slim 80mm PWM fan?

Post by lleo » Wed May 07, 2008 4:46 am

Hi All,
can someone please point me where to find a slim version (10-12mm thickness) 80mm fan that are PWM.

I have a custom build that fits only this type of fan, and the fan headers are all PWM, non-adjustable.
Thanks a lot, Lleo

No such thing.....that I've seen yet. Don't hold your breath.

Scythe has a 100x12mm PWM fan however.

thanks for your reply.

it seems very rare at least indeed.
After much googling, I found this: Cooljag Everflow R128015BL

http://www.everflowtech.com/products/pr ... _no=8015P9

but it seems that is produced for OEMs to be used on heatsinks and parts.
It can be found for ex. on JYCC501A-1 heatsink by Cooljag.

There are several 80x15mm fans.....none are pwm-type that I know of. Many companies list fans that are not readily available.

I'm pretty sure you don't need a PWM fan for that header. 3-pin fans will work too.

You are right, I tried that, but then the fan is running full speed all the time.
As mentioned, the headers cannot be adjusted in BIOS to behave as 3-pin fan-headers.

On another note, the 100mm slim PWM fan from Scythe suggested earlier it seems is only available on a heatsink.

Directron has the 100x12mm fans available separately......yesterday anyway.

thanks for the info, but unless I am wrong, those sold by directron are not PWM, they must not be if they are listed as 3-pin fans that come with a 4-pin adapter.
My only option seems to be to undervolt the fan via a resistor thus slow the spinning, of course will loose the speed-control.
Cheers, Lleo

You may be right about those Directron models. My 100x12mm fans have a different model #....... SY1012SL12H(PWM). Although my HSF combos also came with a 3 pin/4 pin adapter, which plugs into the PWM 4-pin connector, and then plugs into a PSU 4-pin connector.

So there might be at least three different Scythe fans of this size..... :?
