Good quality, cheap 120mm fan?
Hi all.
I will be building a new PC in the next few weeks and I am trying to decide which 120mm fans to get.
I will be using a Scythe-Kaze master to control the fans.
I would like the fans to be silent/very quiet at around 5v, but to have very good/decent airflow at 12v. I don't mind too much about noise levels at 12v, as long as it's got decent airflow. My room can reach 30c+ in the summer and I will be overclocking, etc.
I thought I had made my choice when I found the Scythe S-FLEX 1600RPM model which sounded perfect until I added 4 of them to my basket and saw the price.
Total : £61.05 for just 4 fans...
Are there any fans similar to the S-FLEX 1600RPM that will be very quiet at 5v but push a lot of air at 12v for a good price?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Actually my S-Flex 1600 rpm is a little loud (not smooth).ChrisBUK wrote:Are there any fans similar to the S-FLEX 1600RPM that will be very quiet at 5v but push a lot of air at 12v for a good price?

My Global Win ~1300 rpm NCB 120 mm fans are decent. Madshrimps uses it as their control fan.

What voltage is your S-Flex 1600 running at?QuietOC wrote:Actually my S-Flex 1600 rpm is a little loud (not smooth).ChrisBUK wrote:Are there any fans similar to the S-FLEX 1600RPM that will be very quiet at 5v but push a lot of air at 12v for a good price?

I just found the Scythe Kaze Jyuni 1200RPM Slip Stream fans which are cheaper than the S-Flex and according to Scythe they push more air while being quieter...

When it is moving it is not smooth. It is okay at full speed for the airflow. The Scythe DFS122512L that came with my Ninja is smoother. I think it is hit and miss with the S-flex fans, and I got one of the first ones.ChrisBUK wrote:What voltage is your S-Flex 1600 running at?

Thirded. I find they suit me at about 7V, but they do have the reserve to be turned up if needed that the Nexus and other sub-1000RPM fans don't have.Lawrence Lee wrote:The Yate Loon D12SL-12 is the perfect cheap fan IMO.
For Yate-Loon in the UK I find Chilled PC excellent. Fairly low postage if you just want a fan or two.
But talking of good cheap fans... I succumbed to the temptation and added one to a recent order.
