antec sonata 3 + 2 st 120 mm fans

Post by razorxx » Sat Jan 10, 2009 3:26 am

I am thinking of getting new fans to my chassi.

If you look at the antec Sonata III 500 - (i cant post a link beacuse its my first post :()

You can have 2 st 120 fans.. one is there by default. And the other is possible to mount behind the harddrive space.

I am wondering if the 120 mm fan behind the harddrive space is any good? Wont it move the air towards the cpu cooler?

And.. If i get 2 noctua and and let them spin at say 700 rpm. will i be able to hear them then?

I have the same case.

I originally just installed a single S-FLEX 1200 RPM in the rear, but the idle temps on my 4850 were almost 80C, 90C peak. Adding a second S-FLEX on the front end reduced my temps to around 72C idle, 80C peak, so yes, it does make a difference.

I run my two fans at 900 RPM using the BIOS controls on my ASUS board, and they're inaudible.
