Has anyone tested Scythe's 120mm KAMA FLEX fans?

Post by JaYp146 » Thu Feb 05, 2009 2:29 pm

Found one recently on Jab-tech: http://www.jab-tech.com/Scythe-KAMA-FLE ... -4370.html

Was tempted by the price and availability. Supposedly these share the same fluid dynamic bearings that make the SFlex fans so great ... but how do they perform (on heatsinks, in open air, etc.), and do they live up to SPCR standards?

Thanks in advance.

FWIW, the 1000rpm SA1225FDB12L was included in Fan Round-Up #2.

Yeah, I was confused with the terminology (Kama Flex vs. Flow), but the model #s seem to match.

Anyone else?

The specifications of the fan called Kama Flow in the fan round-up and those of the 1000rpm Kama Flex fan listed at Scythe's site also match. I suppose Scythe no longer call any of their fans "Kama Flow".

They're not the exactly same. The bearing is the same but the frame is improved. It is double-ribbed just like the S-Flex.

I'm using a couple of the 1000rpm Kama Flex on my Feser radiator and they are excellent fans.

I was dissapointed by the sound profiles of my low and mid speed 80mm Kama Flex fans. I hope the 120mm versions fare better, as I'm quite happy with my low and mid speed 120mm S-Flex fans.

I was interested to the Kama FLEX 1000 rpm as an alternative to the S-FLEX 1200 rpm but according to this post (if it isn't wrong) http://www.scythe-eu.com/forum/other-fa ... l#post4867 the 1000 rpm model has a high starting voltage (about 8.5 V), similar to the S-FLEX 800 rpm one.

any new reports on the 1000RPM Kama Flex?

Thanks!

It would be nice to see it go head-on with the Nexus.

I live in Japan and am buying 4 for my new case. Im pretty sure they they are different from the Kama-Flow as well.

Im also looking into the Kamakaze 2 fan(Not the HSF) as it comes with a Hydro bearing.
