Oiling 3yr old nexus fans... any success stories?

I have a bunch of 3 year old 120mm nexus fans (the orange ones). They are definitely not as 'silent' as they used to be.

I am now in the US (I am from Canada) so this would be a good opportunity to get some new fans, or I can save some money and oil the existing fans. I am wondering if anyone applied oil to these fans before, and if the results were positive or not.

Won't know till you try. Only takes a few minutes, so why don't you be the guinea pig and let us all know! ;]
