Intake fan 140mm

Post by jordi.c » Fri Nov 04, 2011 11:35 am

Hello,

Next week the Lancool PC-K9 will arrive. This case has two front fans 140mm and one outtake 120mm.

I already have one Nexus 120mm fan @7v which is almost dead silent.

Now I want to exchange the stock Lancool 140mm fans in the front with some silent case fans. I looked @Scythe slipstream 140mm fans, but as far as I can see they only have 120mm mounting holes. I think my case only have 140mm holes.
What intake fan rpm do you guys recommend?

Not noisy but not silent either at 800rpm, but does move lot of air, you could try undervolting it, Scythe KAMA-FLEX 135mm x 25mm Fan - 800 RPM w/ S-FDB Bearing (140mm Mount) (SA1325FDB12L).

One that i been meaning to try is Noiseblocker NB-BlackSilentPro PK-1 140mm x 25mm Ultra Quiet Fan - 700 RPM - 9 dBA, i have 2 PK3 on my laptop cooler, but atm im fine with the kama flex, will see in time.

I got the PC-K9B as well. Pretty decent case. Based on some threads in this forum, I bought a couple ThermalRight X-Silent 140mm fans for the intake. I'm also using a Noctua U12P SE2 with one fan on the heatsink (push), and the other Noctua fan that came with the heatsink was used to replace the rear 120mm fan on the case.

The front 140mm fans are undervolted slightly as well as the rear 120mm fan. I can hear a faint wooshing sound from all the airflow, but can't really hear any vibration from the fans themselves.

I also bought an Asus GTX570 DirectCU II. Unfortunately, it's not as quiet (even at idle) as some people say. Even at 15% fan speed, it is the loudest component by a fair margin, and very noticeable. :(
