Bitfenix Spectre LED fake Hydro Dynamic Bearing?

Post by elijahk33 » Mon Dec 29, 2014 9:31 am

According to the website http://www.bitfenix.com/global/en/produ ... -led#specs
these fans are Hydro Dynamic Bearing. I bought one of these because I knew it would have to operate at fairly high temperature as it's the only exhaust fan of the system (Cooler Master Elite 110 case).
After 3 months of operation it's starting to get more and more noisy.
What is even more strange for me, is that if I position the fan horizontally to blow upwards, it's significantly noisier than in vertical position, which makes me think of a Sleeve bearing fan...

I'm going to replace it with an Akasa Apache, and immediately after I will remove the sticker from the Spectre and try to investigate the bearing system.

Has anybody noticed this? Is it normal?

Actually it should be: the vast majority of "hydro dynamic" or "rifle" bearings are just modified/upgraded sleeve bearings.
