Dynamic X2 vs. Redux vs. Noctua

Looking to add a 140mm to the front of my new Define C. The regular Noctua A14 is running C$33 which feels pretty steep when the Redux P14s is only C$19 right now (and it seems some people actually prefer it to the A14?)... BUT I can get a Dynamic X2 through work for a cool C$13 right now which is pretty tempting.

Thoughts?

I dont recommend the A14, not a bad fan but not the greatest, i would go with P14, cheaper and the pwm design drops very low. If i were spending money on fans 140 fans, my top pick would be BeQuiet Silentwing3 BL067.

Now having the X2 so cheap, i would go with it, just keep them 400-600rpms range should be very quiet. Now another cheap one is Anteq True Quiet 140, it drops to 200rpms and its top speed is around 850 rpms, probably the cheapest quietest 140 on the market.

What is the reason you don't recommend the A14? Just curious.

I don’t like the tone they produce past 800 rpms.

Do the BeQuiets and/or Antecs have a more pleasant tone above 800 rpms?

This is more a personal preference, we all have different frecuencies and tones that bothers us, i can tell you that i prefer tonally both betquiet and antecs, but in here there are no absolutes, so you might or not like the tones, now the antec was also tested by SPCR on roundup 7, and came out really well, again this is a very subjective topic, so take my comments with a grain of salt.

To me the Redux NF-P14S 1200 PWM would be worth the extra C$6 over the Dynamic X2. Partly its because it can go right down to around 300 rpm under idle which is less than the lowest idle speed of the X2. Partly its because if you stress it to 800 to 1000 rpm most people seem to agree that the tone is better than the A14. The effective working range of the X2 (5v to 12v) is 500 to 1000 rpm. The P14S will do 300 to 1200, so both a lower bottom end and a higher top end
