U14S2 and A14x25

Post by thesmileyone » Sun Feb 24, 2019 12:49 pm

Had Noctua on email support recently and asked them some questions.
"Is there going to be a 140mm version of the A12x25?"
=> Currently we're aiming for Q1/2020.

"When is the newer updated version of the U14S and U12S shown at the latest EXPO's due out, which IIRC includes the A12x25 as it's fans?"
=> Yes, the next NH-U12 cooler will be coming with the NF-A12x25 PWM fans. Schedule is April 2019.
Next gen NH-U14 cooler is still far away. Probably Q1/2020.
This is good news!

I don't get why they don't move to 38mm thick on 140, given that the standard has been 25mm, this would allow them to scale the fan fully which seems to be the problem that they don't seem to be able to scale the NF-A12x25 to 140mm, personally would be more attractive if we not only get a bigger fan but thicker, allowing more airflow. Delta already has 38mm thick fans, would be great to see noctua release a fan on this market, for case fans, i dont think it would be an issue (unless the case is too small or have a GPU right next).

Have to be more careful with front-to-back facing HDDs. I remember the frontal fan mount on my R4 coming loose and just the little extra width caused the fan to rub up against a hard drive.

The fan prototypes on display included slim 140x15, 80x15, 70x15 and 50x10mm A-series models as well as a 140mm counterpart of the NF-A12x25, all of which are on the roadmap for 2021.
They are now talking about 2021 for the A14 refresh.

But 120x120x25mm within rule of three for 140x140mm would be 29.17mm rather than 38mm of thickness.
