How to attach a Nexus 120mm to a SLK3000B exhaust?
Hi SPCR,
I have 2 Nexus 120mm fans and a SLK3000B. I put one fan in the front intake and the SLK3000B has a purple fan holder already there. I want to put the other fan at the back for exhaust but it only has screw holes. I tried to screw it in but it won't. Do rubber gromets work?
Please advise. Thanks!

You can try bigger screws. Alternatively, order some rubber sticks from Directron or Verax. They won't transmit vibration, and will probably be easier to mount the fan than searching for the right fan size. Just make sure you DON'T cut off the rubber ends like they say in the instruction, this will allow you to take off and install fans as you like. Cutting the ends off will only allow you to mount the fan once.
More expensive than the EAR mounts, but
1. You don't have to drill a bigger hole in the case to use them
2. You don't have to use a pair of pliers to pull them through the fan onto the mount , fingers will do
3. You can mount fans without an open flange, unlike the EARs and
4. They have knobs on the end to mount a fan grill, if you cut out the fan grill on the case and wish to use an aftermarket fangrill later.

Here is my method:
1. Four 6/32 x 1.5" nylon machine screws and nuts.
2. Four rubber washers for the screw heads (assuming screw heads are on outside of case).
3. Lay a 1/8" bead of GE 100% Silicone II Caulk on the case where the fan will be attached and let it set up for about 30 minutes. It doesn’t matter much if you are a bit sloppy or uneven in applying the caulk. After 30 minutes, attach the fan with the screws and nuts. Do not over-tighten. This will allow the caulk to conform to the outline of the fan edge, but not let the caulk squeeze completely out.
The materials can be purchased at Home Depot, Lowe’s, or any good hardware store. Regarding the GE 100% Silicone II Caulk, it is all the same regardless of the color, labeling, or packaging.
Edit: One more thing. Please put a bag over your head while posting on this forum.

I have the same case; I just used the ziptie method with the stock Antec grommets cannibalized as washers to provide insulation between the fans and the case.BaBaBooey wrote:I have 2 Nexus 120mm fans and a SLK3000B. Well, I'm USA born 'n bred and have no clue either. A quick Google got me this, but I still remain clueless....m0002a wrote:Check out his handle. (If that doesn't help, then you probably don't want to know about it).Shadowknight wrote:I'm in the USA. Don't get it either.

Ohhhhh yes. I've attached a solid aluminum Evercool fan with them, and moving the case 200 miles, it stayed perfectly in place. When you pull on the rubber end when putting the fan on, pull it until the fan "snaps" into place. That sucker ain't going anywhere until you deliberately pull it off. It's not difficult to remove, but there's no way it'll come off by accident.
