Alright, I'm doing an edit to the original post here because I've really revised what I had written before. Please, critique my system:
Case: Antec P-180
PSU: Seasonic S12-430
Motherboard: ASUS A8V Deluxe
CPU: AMD Athlon-64 3200+ Venice
Graphics: ATI RADEON X800 XL 256mb
Harddrive: Samsung 160gb Spinpoint SP1614c SATA-150
RAM: 2gb (4x512mb) Kingston PC3200 DDR
Drive: NEC ND-3540A DVD-RW (black)
Heatsink: Thermalright XP-120 Heatsink
Monitor: Hyundai L90D+ Silver 19” LCD
Alright, so, is the Athlon 3200+ going to be fast enough to keep up to pace with software? Will the SeaSonic S12-430 PSU power cables be long enough for my mobo? Is there anything else that I'm leaving out?

Uh, maybe you should read the recommended section of this site. Or I'll sum it up.
Case: SLK3000B if you're on a budget, P180 if you have extra $
PSU: S12-380 sounds good for you
MB: ASUS with heatpipes (I think it's the premium)
HDD: Samsung P120
Fans: Nexus/Yate Loon 120 mm
Heatsink: Scythe for passive, XP-120 with a fan for active
Video: Maybe the Sapphire passive-cooled X800?
Monitor: Check other hardware sites for reviews
What soundcard are you planning on?
