Antec P150 hard disk suspension
I've been looking to get a new case/power supply and the Antec P150 seems almost perfect for me.
Does anyone know whether it'll be possible to suspend a 5.25" drive in the HDD bay? I currently have a 74GB Raptor in a Scythe Silent Box and a Seagate 80GB SATA drive mounted with a cheap HD vibration silencer (http://www.pccasegear.com.au/prod1327.htm). Both of these drivers are currently in a 5.25" bay in an Antec T635 case.
The problem with this solution is that both hard drives run HOT (55 degrees!). If I can suspend both these drives in the P150 (I'll probably remove the vibration silencer on the Seagate), I can mount a 92mm fan in the front in-take to cool the two drives.

No, it's not possible unless you want to remove the bay entirely and just have it hanging below the FDD bay.SomeGuy15 wrote: Does anyone know whether it'll be possible to suspend a 5.25" drive in the HDD bay?
Do you really need to keep the 5.25" kits?
Typically people get these kinds of things to either provide cooling, quietness or possibly for info (ie temp display).
P150 should provide excellent cooling since it has 2x92mm fan mounts in front of the HDD cages.
Should be fairly quiet at least from vibration if you use the suspension mount.
Ok so no display.
Hmm then again I have no idea how loud your drives are.

When the P150 prices come down a bit in Australia (around US$235 now!), I'll probably get it. Currently the drive temps are already very high and I'd hate to loose the hard disks (and all the data) due to overheating as summer is just around the corner. Anyway, the SmartPower PSU in my last Antec case decided to die so I'm using some el'cheapo Codegen PSU.AntecRep wrote:Do you really need to keep the 5.25" kits?

I'm using the Silent Box enclosure to help silence the 74GB Raptor. Due to the powerful actuator motors, seek noises are quite loud and intrusive. According to the SPCR Raptor review, suspension won't help too much which is why I decided to use the enclosure.
And thats how I like it! I prefer the sleek and minimalist look. I personally hate all the bling/lights/side windows (aka P160) and prefer a clean-looking case like the P150.Ok so no display.
I certainly won't be spoiling the P150 with dials, displays and multi-coloured rainbow CCFL and LEDs!
