They make noise, too.

Cooling Silencer for my FX 5600 Ultra?

Post by munchgrunch » Wed Nov 09, 2005 7:11 pm

hey guys, new to the forums and this is my first post :)

recently i've become upsessed with silencing my PC because it's so loud and unbearable. one of the sources of noise is the fan on my video card, a MSI GeForce FX 5600 Ultra.

i've been looking around and people are recommending me arctic cooling's VGA silencers, the only problem is i'm not sure which silencer is compadible with my video card.

can anyone recommend any cooling silencers for me and also what model of artic coolings VGA silencers is compadible with the FX 5600 Ultra?

Thanks :D

I'd recommend the Zalman VF-700, it's quieter and it performs better than the arctic silencer. Also, it's compatible with almost all Nvidia cards

How are your ram chips cooled, do they have their own heatsinks, does the GPU heatsink cover them, does the GPU fan blow air on them? The ram on some of the mid range FX ultra cards ran pretty hot.

i'll look into the zalman vf700, but just for reference: does anyone know what model of the arctic cooler silencer is compadible with the fx5600 ultra?

also i don't have my RAM chips cooled (at least i don't think i do). i didn't add anything to my video card, I am using everything stock

That's the point, the upper-midrange FX's were a bit exceptional in that some did have ram cooling stock, because they used GDDR2. Like earlier versions of 5700ultras, although later versions used GDDR3, and they didn't have ram cooling stock IIRC.
