x700 cooling

Post by mr pink » Fri Apr 07, 2006 4:04 pm

I've got a sapphire radeon x700 pci-x (non-pro) with an original arctic cooling vga cooler. I took it off a radeon 9600 pro, I was surprised it fit, but it did. Problem is, it clicks a bit (even when I stop the fan with my finger).

Would a zalman blue northbrigde heatsink be enough for this? I could point a slow moving case fan at it -

The airflow in the case is ok, not great though.

Any opinions?

Thanks

It wasn't enough for my Sapphire X700 Pro. You'll need some airflow.

If you want to get rid off the clicking noise, donnot connect the fan header to the vga's fan header but instead connect it to either a fanmate2 or a 7Volt cable converter.
