LGA775 boards with many harddrive connectors

Post by shunx » Tue Oct 10, 2006 5:04 pm

I'm looking for a board to use with Core 2 and numerous hard drives, say at least 5. Can anyone name some boards with numerous SATA and some ATA connectors?

I know of:
ASUS P5W DH Deluxe: 8 SATA, 2 ATA
Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6: 8 SATA, 1 ATA

You should check the specs of the boards before you go judging SATA slots as all usable for HDDs. Some of those SATA slots are used for RAID only. Not sure if this is true or not though lol I read it somewhere about the P5W DH.

So JBOD may not be supported by each SATA connection? The P5W DH specs are:
* Intel ICH7R Southbridge
o 1 x Ultra ATA33/66/100 (data transfer rate up to100MB/sec.)
o 4 x SATA 3.0Gbps ports
o Supports RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 0+1, RAID 5
* JMicron JMB363 SATA/IDE controller
o 2 x SATA 3.0Gbpsinterface (1 x sharedeSATA port)
o 1 x Ultra ATA33/66/100/133 (data transfer rate up to133MB/sec.)
* Silicon Image SiI 4723 SteelVine SATA RAID processor
o 2 x SATA 3.0Gbps interface
o Supports RAID 0, RAID 1, JBOD and RAID 10

[Edit: got this response: "the two orange SATA connectors can support one drive running non-raid, or two drives running in raid0 or raid1."]
