ROFL ahahahahaha ninja with bling, even the fins are shiny
(we need a smiley like the one above but with sparkling teeth for :bling: )
Anyway, never liked OCZ, and I have no idea why people pay twice as much for their stuff when all they do is sell rebadged products pushed to their limits with questionable reliability. Their PSUs are rebadged, their memory is rebadged, don't know about their flash drives, but seems likely and now this... Ha!

OCZ is highly overrated. They started off with a shady reputation selling rebadged RAM, and while they managed to clean their name, now they've secured a cult following by pandering to young "l33t" gamers.
It's interesting how many enthusiast sites praise OCZ PSUs and yet never even heard of Seasonic!

AFAIK mainly topower and FSP (gamestream or whatever is fsp based).vitaminc wrote:they don't make PSU. they outsource their psu design and manufacturing to some ODM (i think topower, but not 100% sure).Noni wrote:They make great PSU's.
To the vitaminc, as Noni said OCZ does not make their own PSUs, in fact they don't make anything themselves, all they do is slap a pretty badge on some OEM PSU and sell it at 50-100% premium. And their PSUs are not that great either compared to Seasonic. Go to jonnyguru website for gamestream and M12 reviews, seasonic is a clear winner in quality.
There is just one advantage of nexus over YL, that's RPM. You 7volt YL and it's going to spin at 900 RPM which is still a tad too loud for me. You 7volt Nexus and it's going to spin at 700RPM which is significantly quiter. You could attempt to undervolt YL even further, but in that case it might not start reliably, especially if the fan is mounted at odd angles, and in the end you could undervolt nexus further too giving you lower RPM. IMO the choice between YL and Nexus shouldn't be dictated by how quiet they are at identical RPMs (they should be equal) but what RPMs you need out of your fan.tmoney wrote:ok... and nexus fans are just orange yate loons, but everyone on here still has a nexus!
Who gives a damn that they sell rebadged stuff? It's pretty good stuff still, though it's expensive pretty good stuff, and you can get some cheaper very good stuff. everything is rebadged nowadays anyway.. Hell even a Chevrolet is really a Daewoo with a chevy badge "Turn your vacuum-cleaner into a Chevy in one easy, affordable step! Order your badge set Today! Buy one get three For Free! Only 27.99$+s&h!

Just trying to correct Noni, because there is a pretty big difference between rebadging and actual design/manufacturing.nici wrote:Who gives a damn that they sell rebadged stuff? Sure thing. SPCR is a pretty cynical crew anyway, and once you hang around here for a while you learn to think beyond marketing BS. I know i did, after buying a shitload of stuff that was supposed to be "silent" before finding SPCR when searching for reviews... Now i need to get some sleep. tomorrow im off to test computer hardware for a couple of months.

More surface area? It will be interesting to see this up against a Ninja though. I wonder how their slight "design" changes affect performance. But I'm sure they will put a premium price tag on it so would negate anything it had over the Ninja.I wonder why they put the notches for the wire clips on there
Personally for me to buy an OCZ branded Ninja it would have to be:
a. Quite a bit cheaper than the Ninja
b. Perform considerably better than the Ninja
Neither of those I figure will happen. But wow, how cool would it be to have almost a whole computer of branded OCZ parts, joy!

hmmm
considering the ocz tempest is like 90aud here, and the scythe ninja can be had for 70, i seriously doubt that this heatsink will cost less then a ninja.
as for performance, ocz is geared towards gamers, i wouldnt be suprised if the fan is stupidly loud by spcr standards
However a fan replacement MIGHT show good results
i guess we'll see how it goes
