My HTPC system is very quiet but for one thing: my LG DVD reader drive. I've tried with Nero drivespeed but it doesn't seem to work stable for me. With nero drivespeed sometimes the DVDs are not recognized by the drive.
So I am wondering which is the most quiet DVD reader (or writer I don't care). I've found lots of posts about silent hard disks but very few about silent optical drives.
Anyone can help me?

I have partially solved the problem. I've found a program similar to nero drive speed. It is CD Bremse (CD throttle). It is a German program, but I've found an English version (installer still in German):
http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=CD_Bremse
It works better than nero for me. At least I can see DVD movies without having to hear a chopper inside my computer
So I reformulate my original question: Which is the most silent optical drive at the lower speeds?
