Post by Mari0-Br0s » Wed Dec 27, 2006 12:10 am

Hey guys, I'm looking for this CPU from AMD: ADD3800CUBOX.

I need it for my HTPC I'm building and I would like to known if any of you have seen it in store yet...since I'm having an hard time finding it.

Thanks in advance.

mmm I'm not seeing it on their website. They got the regular 89W (ADA3800CUBOX) version and the EE 65W (ADO3800CUBOX) version. But I'm looking for the EE SFF which is 35W (ADD3800CUBOX).

oh 35w is unavailable everywhere. it's $600 in the 1-2 spots it's listed

65w is what's available

are you gonna pay $600 for it?

Why do you just not buy the cheap 65W version? My own tests, as well as those made by Silent PC Review, show that this CPU consumes ~40W at stock settings. Well, SPCR tested the S939 3800+ on 1.22V, but it's basically the same CPU as the AM2 3800+ EE.

What's even better is that even crappy ones (like the one I have) should run with 1.1V or less. At that voltage it will be nearly identical to the 35W EE SFF.

I 2nd this.

Get a 65W part and undervoltage it. I have a 65W 4200+ X2 AM2 that it 100% stable with 2 instances of CPU Burn at 1.05V with a Scythe Ninja on it running fanless in a Antec P180B.

Good buy. I can undervolt mine even lower. Mine can do a tad under 1.0.v.

they all got snapped up by hp in use in htpc computers. at boxing day prices (cheaper than the chip itself) i was tempted to buy one of those matx bundles and pry the cpu out!
