Geforce 8800GTS cooling

Post by where?wolf » Sun Mar 04, 2007 9:23 am

Hi guys!

I'm on my way buying a 8800GTS.

Now I'm wondering, how are the stock coolers on the 8800GTS card, in terms of noise?

And how hot does this kind of cards run? Can I count on much increasing case temps?

I have a P180 with a passive intake in the 5.25 cd bays (120mm fan filter)
An AMD64 Clawhammer 3000+ @2.2GHz. Undervolted slightly.
1 x 120mm Noctua at 850RPM (ducted to a Ninja). This is the only case fan I have.

For the moment, I have a X1800GTO with a Zalman VF900 CU at lowest settings. My case temp is 32C idle and 36- 37C load. In 20C room temp.

Hi!

O.k. That sounds good.
Best to ansver quickly now then. As you are, going to be busy gaming for the next days :) I understand you.

I guess I will be doing the same thing, when my new 8800GTS arrives.
People who bought this card. Says the old games they have, look like new with that card.

Thanks fo the ansver!

Thanks!

Yeah, I've heard positive things about the brand.
Normally, I would have gone for eVGA. But as the price for the Leadtek 8800gts is really good. I went down that route.

where?wolf I'm probably getting an 8800GTS from Leadtek next month so when you've checked it out could you perhaps post on it's noise level/heat when you get yours? :D Haven't been able to find much info about the 8800GTS tbh :P

Hi again!

Well, I got the Leadtek 8800GTS today.

And I must say, I'm quite impressed!

First, it cuts through any game at very high settings smoothly.
So Far, I have tested BF2, Far Cry, Titan Quest and F.E.A.R. and Medieval Total War II.

Also the noise is surpricingly low, compaired to the other GF cards I have had. It's just a thad bit "louder" than my previous X1800GTO, with a Zalman VF 900CU.

The temp load where 61 to 63C, according to NVTemplogger software. At 19C room temp. The fan whas set to lower speed. At full trottle, the fan is still pretty silent.

So I have no problem recommending the Leadtek to you.

I have an 8800GTX (Gainward) in a P180B with a freaking Raptor and Barracuda in it.

The 8800 is *by far* the noisiest thing in the case. Maybe the GTS is quieter ;(

If you think your card is too noisy?

Then maybe a Thermalright HR 03 Plus (8800GTX compatible only. But there will be a separate heatsink for it this month for the GTS model) And a silent 92mm fan will do the trick for you?
