WooHoo got a P182!

Post by phrygius » Wed Mar 14, 2007 4:15 pm

Imagine my surprise when I opened what I thought was going to be an Antec P180B only to find-out I got the golden ticket: a P182B!

I ordered the P180B from the egg on Friday of last week and it was boxed, labeled and billed as such, but it's clearly the P182B. It's kind of hard to see in the third picture, but there's clearly a nice space now (maybe 1/2") behind the MOBO tray to run your cables. That black rectangle on the back of the case is the fan controller (sorry for my poor photography skills)

Let me know if you guys want any better or different pictures.

I only hope my Scythe Ninja will still fit . . .

Im jealous. :(

Would you mind taking some measurements of how big and where the holes are cut for us deprived P180 owners? I plan on taking out a dremel this weekend or next to tidy up my cabling. Would be interesting to know how Antec decided to do it.

Thanks

you can run the cables behind the tray in the p180 but it is VERY hard to get the 24pin connector ran behind the tray because the space behind there is very little, thats one of the new things in the p182 is that now there is space to do it... i was gonna do to my p180 what your thinking but AFTER takeing apart the whole computer i looked and there is almost no space..... o and congrats on thegetting the p182... i was thinking of buying it AGAIN just to get the p182 but figured my p180 was good enough and wasnt worth the $120 sumthing dollars to buy a new one for some cool new stuff

You got same case I got as P180B this week... What they're now shipping P182's as P180B's? Wow... Someone told me in here that my new P180B was P182 and not P180... Its bit hard to believe though

I have same case with you and with my motherboard Ninja fits easily. I still can change top exhaust without removing Ninja. Its that roomy.

Perhaps Antec isn't going to sell the 182 as a new model#, maybe they're just going to keep the 180 name and ship the new units.

hmmm, as one not interesting in putting corrosive, conductive liquid into my electronics I'd prefer the "grillwork" on the back of the 180 to the "tube holes" on the 182.

Oh well, I guess it'a a matter of wait and see. I'm rather interested to see what happens with the 190.

Hi Mav,

There are 3 cut-outs on the mobo platform: 2 above the mobo (centered on about the left 1/3 and the right 1/3) and 1 on the right side (about 1/3 up the mobo). The dimensions of the cut-outs are 2-1/8" wide by 7/8" tall. There is also a cut-out in the power supply chamber 2-1/8" wide leading to the back of the mobo platform. The left edge of the cut-out lines-up almost exactly with the left edge power supply cage.

(All references assume you're looking directly into the case at the mounted mobo with the back of the case is to your left and the front of the case to your right.)

Good luck with your dremel-ing :)

As of today, Newegg will neither confirm nor deny that they are shipping P182s in P180B boxes. They apparently consider this a new revision or stepping, which means their policy doesn't require them to inform the customer of which product they will receive when ordering the item. There are reports aplenty that Newegg is shipping P182 cases under this SKU, but it isn't clear if they are only shipping P182s or if there are P180Bs still in stock.

Antec is now offering a $50 mail-in rebate on the silver P180 (129-50=79USD) on Newegg purchases from 3/16-3/23. The timing and duration of this rebate offer suggests that Newegg wants this stock flushed well before the end of the month. That hints that the P182 should be in available (hopefully under its correct model number) in a week or so.

Me too. Unless I can get the Intarweb tubes to fit, that it. ;-)

Is there a link for this? I can't seem to find a rebate on Antec or newegg. I'm looking for a new case & for $79 it's worth the crapshoot of getting a p182. At the least, you still end up with a p180 for a great price.

My P180B arrived from Newegg today, and it's a 182.

This case is very nice - manufacturing quality is excellent.

Someone ordered the p180 from newegg on 3/16/07 and he didn't get the p182. His p180 came from the NJ warehouse which is where mine is coming from too which worries me. The difference is that I ordered the p180b which everyone seems to be having luck with. It should be arriving next week. I'll update when it comes.

Which warehouse did you P180B ship from? Thanks.

Two questions about color on the p182-shipped-as-p180.

1. It's hard to tell from the photo if you received a black case or the gunmetal case. Which is it?

2. What color is the inside of the door? (Up till now, on the p180, they have been a different color than the outside case color - silver cases have had black on the inside of the door, while black cases have had a dull gray on the inside of the door.)

Just received the case and it has all the features of the P182. I actually wanted to get the silver P180 at first but thought it was wiser to get the black P180B since there doesnt seem to be much people that got a silver one with the P182 features.

Again, mine shipped from the NJ warehouse. Also there is a a $50 rebate for the black P182B now and there was $10 off shipping code for paypal users but I'm not sure if it still works today. Great price and I'm glad I missed the Fry's deal for $80 after rebate back in February.

Abe, I don't think they are shipping cases with the gunmetal color with these new P180/B revisions. The door for the black case is silver(or dull gray as you say) on the inside which should be panels to lower noise. Also, where did you see a silver case with black on the inside of the door? Newegg shows the same color for both cases on the inside of the door.

BTW, is it normal for Newegg to not ship invoices?

All the ones I've seen locally (Silicon Valley), at various Fry's and some local computer stores, have had black inside panels on silver p180s. Of course, most of those are likely early models that have been on display since the p180 came out - but I haven't checked the details to see if they have (or do not have) the newer p180 revs, such as slotted back panels, which came out some months (?a year?) back.

I was hoping that perhaps Antec had finally gone to a matching color on the inside of the door. They went to a degree of trouble to allow the door to open all the way to the side of the case. presumably on the assumption that some people would want to leave the door in an open position, resting against the case side, and then they use an inside door panel that doesn't match the color and texture of the side panel it rests against when open.

Sigh...

Just wanted to let everybody know that I got a P182 also. Ordered it on Friday and with the rebate, it's like 75 bucks... great deal. It shipped from Memphis and it came in a P180B box.

Dammit. Should I order one and hope for the best? For the record I already have three P180's. Would be a real bummer if I get old P180 version...

Well I just got my silver P180 from Newegg and it has all the features of the P182 :D :D I'm a happy camper right now, I thought the black ones were the only ones that would ship with all the new features but that is not the case

NCIX is now accepting pre-orders for the P182SE, with anticipated arrival for shipment in a couple of weeks, or "mid-April". Price is $232.00 USD + shipping.

East Luna has just listed the P182 at $136.00, expecting availability May 14.

The P182 has been available for quite a while now, just not under its name. I ordered a "P180B" from ChiefValue (NewEgg partner) on February 9th and received a P182 inside a P180B box.

P182 in Cnada?

Post by dentaku » Mon Apr 02, 2007 5:06 pm

Does anyone know if the P182 is for sale in Canada yet?
NCIX only has the extremely expensive P182SE on their site.

I don't want to have to order one from the US.
