My P182 Setup

Here a quick shot of my silent p182

I'm using a scythe 800 rpm 21D 120 mm fan for my rear fan and for my thermalright 120 extreme. I have a 92mm nexus on my thermalright HR-03 for my 8800 ultra. Its pretty dam silent at idle or load. My idle temps are about 38 and my load temps are about 50. My HR-03 keeps my 8800 idle at about 54 and load about 66. My samsung dvd burner is also dam quiet, much quieter than my old plextor one. Those scythe fans are dead quiet, I could have gotten the 1200 rpm ones and gotten a little better cooling but I thought they were a little too loud. And I cared more about my system being quiet than cool. I think I got a good balance of the two....

Top-rate cabling. Nice components. A modded 8800 Ultra? Wow.

As stated by SPCR, I've noticed that my Scythe 800RPM fan clicks, but not always. I think I might switch to the 1200RPM fan.

So you're saying that you get absolutely no buzzing/squealing noises under load with that configuration? Lucky.

The scythe 800 rpm fans are dead quiet even under load. I tried playing BF2 for about an hour with the speakers off to see if I could hear anything different under load, and they were just as quiet as they were at idle. No clicking what so ever. As far as the 8800 ultra goes I'm very pleased with the HR-03 even at load my temps on that never got above 66-68. I put my ear next to the case, and couldn't hear anything really, I would say its almost dead quiet. I'm pretty pleased about the whole setup. I'm glad I found spcr the forums have been a great help

Is the 620HX everything that it is hyped up to be?

The 620 corsair is dead quiet and has rock soild on voltages. and its cable length is perfect. I've overclocked to 3.2 from 2.4 I had to up the vdimm and vcore just a bit

my psu whines randomly so i may replace it with a 520hx soon

since your load temps are around 50, have you tried going a little higher?

Yeah I got it to 3.4 and it was stable, but I didn't want to over do it so I stuck at 3.2 My Dad's pc has the corsair 520 watt psu and that too is dead quiet and very good stable voltages....On a side not even though I got the P182 I didn't really like the gun metal grey color so I asked a friend of mine that just got the P180B if he would switch with me the front bezel and side panels so I could have an all black one to match the rest of my stuff, and he was cool with it so we switched

And you saved me a lot of digging, I have a system to be build and it seems my shopping list is almost equal to yours, so that picture you made answers a lot of questions for me. Thank you.

I'm curious though, are you letting the mainboard control the fans or are you running them flat out?

Their plugged into the motherboard running 100% but still dead silent. I didn't want to use the psu connections for them, because that would have ment more wires hense more mess.......thanks for the coments

I think I'm going to take the 92mm fan off the hr-03 on my 8800 and put a nice 120mm scythe 21D sflex fan on their with some zip ties. It would move more air than the 92mm one and be quieter as well. I've seen alot of people using the 120mm fan on their with some pretty good results.....I'll let you guys know how that goes

That is so tidy. Didn't even think of routing my power cables around the back that way. That could tidy up my hard drive area smartly

Good graphics temps too. Got my gts overclocked like an ace twit. Peaks over 80degrees after a bit of gaming now.

That cooler's massive.

Great job and great pic. Do you have any more pics, especially of the cable management from the right side (underside)? Have you tried anything to ventilate the heat from the card to the outside of the case?

Here's an updated photo with the HR-03 now mounted with a 120 mm scythe sflex 800 rpm fan

I used zip ties for the top and I was able to use the fan clip from the 92mm fan on the bottom with a little stretching of it

My system is even quieter now

Temps for the 8800 ultra are now about 52 which is pretty dam good. I'll get some more pictures of the wiring behind the motherboard this weekend

Right now my MB is at 36 my CPU is at 38 and my GPU is at 54

maybe a fan mounted overhead facing down would work ok?

Is there any possibility to put wheels on the p180/182

I have a set of Lian Li casters that I'm going to try to mount on a P182. It is not as straightforward as mounting them on a Lian Li case, so it will take some tweaking. I'm trying to avoid removing the rivets from the PSU tray and the lower chamber HDD cage base, but this means drilling different mounting holes and probably using 2 instead of 4 screws, so probably larger screws. Also, there is an elavated circular ridge around each of the rubber feet on the bottom of the case, so I'll probably have to put a soft shimm of some sort underneath the mounting bracket.

AHA, I see you removed the top blowhole fan and router the SATA cables behing the motherboard tray.
Those are 2 things I want to try in my P182. I ran all the other cables behing the tray but the SATA ports on a P5B Deluxe are right at the bottom so I just ran them through the hole.

I wanted to get the HR-03 Plus as well for my 8800GTS, but seeing with a fan on, and including the card, it covers 5 slots...it just won't work for my setup.
