4870 and ramsinks

Post by Shadout » Thu Jul 03, 2008 3:17 am

Anyone know how many heatsinks are needed for the ram and PWMs on HD4870 with Accelero S1 r2 installed?

Also, is EnzoTech BMR-C1L ramsinks any good for this?

I use the EnzoTech sinks on my 8800GTS.

They are very good, and the adhesive sticks very well. Quite heavy, but very big difference from even the Thermalright sinks for the HR-03 in terms of performance.

are the CU- part and the red frame 2 seperate parts or are the stuck toghether?

so in theory one could use the red frame for cooling mem and VRM and the S1 or the core?

it appears that the red metal frame is removable so you can leave them on to cool the RAM and VRMs.

It would only act as a large heat spreader though, I think AC S1 + red frame + 120mm fan would be more than enough for great cooling.

I'm wondering if you can remove the red frame without needing to remove the whole thing

I just tried this and it doesn't work. You can separate the red frame from the copper heatsink, but part of the red frame sticks up and prevents the Accelero from attaching.
