Semi passive HS for GA-MA74GM-S2?

Post by fred9 » Fri Nov 28, 2008 4:12 pm

I also plan to get the AMDA 4850e.
I now run just a case fan fan with AMD 64 3200+ and Ninja on A8R-MVP.
I'd be happy with Ninja or Plus or ?? but I can't seem to tell if a Ninja would work with this board. Will it? and any other suggestions?
I don't game or OC.

Thank you

You could easily run that CPU passively even with Scythe Mini Ninja with single case fan.

With that Gigabyte board, you should be able to use Minja, or any Ninja's there is. Layout in socket area is pretty identical to 780G boards which can take Ninja. Scythe Germany's forums is compatibility list for motherboards for different scythe coolers.

I appreciate the info.

I'll try to find the German Scythe site.

Alright, since layout is 99,8% the same with 740G than its with 780G chipset, they're using same PCB, just -2 memory slots:

there's picture with Scythe Ninja Rev B mounted on Gigabyte 780G microAtx board, which is identical to your 740G board when looking by eyes ( minus the two memory slots ).

As you can see, it fits perfectly... Just don't get Corsair Dominator memory sticks...
