phenom2 24c idle. could that be right?

running ubuntu 9.10 and using the not yet included k10temp module. It says my cpu is 24c idle. could that be right? theres a chance this mod is broken, or just needs a multiplier or offset applied

msi 790fx-gd70
65 watt 2.6ghz phenom2
tx-3 paste
tniq propeller
raven2 (bottom fans set to low)

lcd on motherboard keeps flipping between 26 and 27, dont know what its mesuring. cant find this in the manual. cpu temp was 27 in bios.

just rebooted, bios says cpu 31 and system 41, os still says 24 for cpu. motherboard says 27.

Just grab HWMonitor and take a look at the CORE temperature, not the CPU one... it actually comes from a sensor which is close to the CPU, not within it like the core sensors.

Unless you have an exotic cooling system, CPU temperature must be more than room temperature.

Any program you add that measures the cpu temperature needs to be calibrated. Suprised if you can't find a FAQ for it.

so the 22c its at now is accurate, just not what i thought it meant.

That sounds about right, my Phenom II idles at 22-24C.

This must be the new K10 driver for lm-sensors, how did you install it?

I changed motherboard from Biostar to Gigabyte and the idle temps went up about 10-20C. So I don't really think many combos show accurate temps.

Windows utilities like coretemp and speedfan work ok. I'll have to check for new K10 cpu temp driver in ubuntu.
