Which Tower Cooler will fit the Antec Fusion Remote Max?

Post by ATWindsor » Sun Jan 03, 2010 3:49 pm

Well, the question is more or less given in the topic, wich tower cooler will fit this case? The Prolima Megahalems seems to be just a bit to big (they touch the top of the case, but can be fitted). Most Tower Coolers seem to have similar height as the Megahalems in their specs, but seom might have less of the heatpipe sticking up, or other small details that give the sufficient extra millimeters of clearance. Any tips for a fitting tower cooler?

Take a look at the recommended heatsink list:

The Xigmatek HDT-S964 and the Scythe Ninja Mini are two of the shorter heatsinks.

Thanks for the tip, I am aware of the low tower sinks, but I plan to cool a i5-750 at about 500-600 rpm or less, I fear this will be difficult with a mini nija or similar, so I want to use a 120mm-based tower-sink if possible.

Here is a list of heatsinks with 120mm fans shorter than the Megahelem:
  • Prolimatech Megahelem (reference), height 158,7mm
AeroCool DCC-C1200 height, 155mm. A heatpipe direct touch heatsink with a flat top. There are similar models from other manufacturers.
Scythe Ninja 2, height 152mm. Good for low airflow.
Sunbeam Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme, height 150,7mm. Heatpipe direct touch, good performance, expensive.
ZEROtherm Nirvana NV120 Premium, height 150mm. Good cooling effiency, non-standart fan difficult to replace.
Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme Rev.2, height 131mm. Quiet, performance might not be better than Scythe Ninja Mini.

Thanks a lot for the list, that is very helpful.

I am a bit confused about the heights of some coolers though, the cooler in SPRs review of the antec fusion remote max seems to be a Scythe Orochi, wich according to Sythe is 155mm high, but in the review, the pics seem to indiate that it clears the ase quite easily in height.

Might the height of the tower sinks be witout the heatpipes stiking out? Or does anybody have another explanation?
