You're better off, by far, with an Athlon XP than a Celeron. Same prices, too.

The advice regarding Celeron is easy to understand: don't go there.

Nothing wrong with Celeron's for lots of uses, my only gripe with AMD chips is that I have to cough up extra $$$$ for an nForce mobo to avoid VIA garbage, and either choice for AMD leaves me searching for very specific memory.

How much does a good P4 mobo cost? And what RAM would you use?

I find comarably loaded Intel boards are typically cheaper than their nForce cousins, and come on now, boards for AMD chips are famous for being picky about RAM, let's not deny this.

Just curious, what do you think of a PIII on a Via C3M266(mATX)? There's no AGP, but I think it undervolts. I'm using one now, may read up on exactly how undervolting works and try it.

There's a ATI 9000 PCI card out.
