Whats the current state of UEFI Fan Control on Motherboards?

Post by Gunbuster » Thu Jul 06, 2017 5:05 am

Hi All,

I know Asrock used to be number one with MSI and Asus close second. Has Gigabyte/Aorus caught up at all? I know the X299 boards support fan stopping as well as profiles.

Does anyone have any RL experience?

Gigabyte's X299 BIOS Fan Stop, as far as I can see, is a lot more comprehensive and flexible that some other implementations. For example it can be applied to the CPU PWM fan header as well as the chassis fan headers. Combined with a hybrid PSU with the fan off in ECO mode and a 0dB graphics card it potentially allows a PC with all fans off under idle or low system stress conditions.
