Quiet Down LITEON Drive

Post by galois427 » Thu Feb 05, 2004 4:29 pm

I have the LTC-48161H combo drive and its incredibly loud. whenever i put a cd in, it spins like crazy and drive me nuts. i don't play audio cds for this reason. is there a way i can turn down the spindle speed of this drive? i'm willing to burn at 24x instead of the native 48x. any help would be appreciated.

Hi!

I have a similar drive (Lite-On 52-32-52 CD-RW) so I know what you're hearing...

If you use NERO (5 or 6), you can use the included NERO Drive Speed to reduce the read speed of your drive.

Also, when burning, just use a slower speed.

Hope that helps!

Although I don't know, I'm sure you can experiment to see what is a good minimum speed for the video not to freeze and skip.

i was messing around nero drive speed.

How do i get it to always stay at the speed i set it to?
I would set it to 4x.

then i put in a new cd and it goes back to 52x.

i click the box that said, restore speed setting at startup. and i tried it unchecked, but ti always goes back to 52x.

any other programs like this?

worked really well when i got it to work

thx

CD Bremse is another utility you could try to throttle down the rotational speed of your drive:

Although it's in German, it's quite obvious how to use it.
