Overclocked HD3650

Post by xit2050 » Fri Mar 07, 2008 4:00 am

I recently put together a new system with an Asus HD3650 video card.
Out of the box this card runs at 725MHz GPU clock and 800MHz (1600) memory clock.
I installed a fanmate because the fan on the card was too loud to my liking, now I can barely hear it.
I overclocked the card to 910MHz GPU frequency and 1090MHz (2180) memory frequency. I'm getting a score of 5880 in 3Dmark06.
In Everest I get temps of 36-40 idle and 52-60 under 99% load.
Off course the fan keeps spinning slowly because of the fanmate.
As far as I'm aware these temps aren't too high for this card.

Can I keep running the card at these clocks or are the temps too high and will it damage the card?

Just found this review: http://www.legitreviews.com/article/652/11/

Now I am completely confused, they are talking about temps of 51°C idle and 84°C peak and achieve only a very small overclock.
And on my card the fan is spinning slower because of the fanmate!!!

Asus has significantly more effectiver and louder Glaciar Cooler than the stock cooler in review.
