The Original PlayStation 4 is the launch model that was released in February 2013. It was known as the most advanced gaming console of its time, boasting 500GB of storage space. 

This eighth-generation console competed with Nintendo’s Wii U, Switch, and Microsoft’s Xbox One.

The PS4 came with a powerful graphics processor that could produce the most high-quality images. It supported high dynamic range (HDR) and was compatible with multiple television models. 

What’s more, the PS4 had an all-new controller design with a touchpad and the ability to be charged in Sleep Mode. You could connect to the DualShock controller via Bluetooth 2.1 wireless connections.

When it comes to the specifications, the Original PS4 had a single-chip design with an 8-core CPU and a 1.84 teraflop GPU. It came with a replaceable 500GB mechanical hard drive and an 8GB DDR5 RAM.

Sony released the PlayStation 4 Slim in September 2016. This smaller version of the PS4, model number CUH-2000, came with a rounded matte finish body instead of the usual two-tone finish. It was actually 40% smaller than the original PS4.

The PS4 Slim featured two updated USB 3.1 ports, Bluetooth 4.0, and 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi. Sony got rid of the optical audio port in PS4 Slim. This model came in two storage sizes, a 500GB model and a 1TB model.

Released in November 2016, the PlayStation 4 Pro is an upgraded version of PS4 that comes with more advanced hardware. The Pro model offers a better PlayStation VR performance and is capable of 4K rendering. 

The PS4 Pro comes with Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.1, 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi, and 1GB of DDR3 memory. So you can swap all the other background apps to get an additional 512MB of memory.

When it comes to additional features, the PS4 Pro allows Share Play, Remote Play, 1080p streaming, and much more.

How Do I Find My Sony PS4 Model Number?

If you are wondering what Sony PS4 model you have, you can find out the model and serial number on the back of your console easily. There’s a barcode at the back of every PS4 console under which you can find an 11-digit serial number and the model number starting with “CECH”.
