Now, unless you’re absolutely in need of new security features and hardware improvements, updating your BIOS might not be necessary. Sometimes, BIOS updates can cause massive problems. If you’re in the know, Asus has been known for pumping out faulty BIOS updates with the latest Ryzen 7000 processors. This caused processors to operate at finicky voltages. So, proceed at your own risk.

ASUS has a special feature called EZ Flash 3, along with an application called AI Suite 3, which makes updating your motherboard‘s BIOS a breeze. Before you get started, make sure your Asus BIOS isn’t already up to date. If it is, you’ll only end up wasting precious time. Fortunately, you can check your Asus BIOS version pretty easily

How To Get Into BIOS

  • Press the BIOS key repeatedly during startup to enter the BIOS. For laptops, the BIOS key is usually F2, and for motherboards, it’s the Delete key.
  • Select the Advanced Mode option.
  • Whether you’re in UEFI or Legacy mode, make sure you’re in the Main tab.
  • Look for the Version data under BIOS information. That’s your current BIOS version.

Use Asus EZ Flash

ASUS EZ Flash is a utility built into the UEFI BIOS, specific to ASUS motherboards. With this utility, you can update the BIOS using either the internet or a USB drive.

  • Press the BIOS key (F2 or Del) repeatedly to enter the BIOS.
  • Navigate to the Tool tab, where you’ll find ASUS EZ Flash 2 Utility or ASUS EZ Flash 3 Utility, depending on your motherboard model.
  • If your motherboard has ASUS EZ Flash 2 Utility, you can use a USB drive with the update file to perform the BIOS update. If you have ASUS EZ Flash 3 Utility, you have the option to update via USB or through the internet.

Updating Via The Internet

  • Access the ASUS EZ Flash 3 Utility within the UEFI BIOS.
  • Select the option for updating via the internet.
  • Choose DHCP.
  • The BIOS will prompt you to confirm the download. Select OK.
  • Once the download completes, confirm the BIOS update when prompted.
  • The update process will begin, and once it’s finished, the system will restart.

Updating Via USB

  • Access the ASUS EZ Flash Utility from the UEFI BIOS.
  • Choose the option for updating via a storage device.
  • Select your USB drive and the BIOS update file.
  • Confirm file selection and the update process will start.
  • Once the process completes, the system will reboot. Make sure not to interrupt the update process.

Use AI Suite 3

If you prefer a hassle-free update within the operating system, ASUS provides the AI Suite 3 application. With AI Suite 3, you can update your BIOS without entering the BIOS itself. To update your Asus BIOS using AI Suite 3:

  • Download AI Suite 3 and extract the file.
  • Run AsusSetup.exe from the extracted folder to install AI Suite 3.
  • Follow the installation process and reboot your PC after installation.
  • Before starting the update process, download the BIOS update file and extract it on your PC.
  • Open AI Suite 3 and click on the three horizontal icons on the left side of the application.
  • Click on EZ update.
  • Browse and select the extracted BIOS update file.
  • Click on the Update button on the right panel.
  • Follow the prompts and let the PC restart automatically for the update to take effect.

In Summary

And that pretty much wraps up how you can update your Asus BIOS easily. Updating your BIOS on an ASUS motherboard can be done using these methods. Make sure you follow all steps carefully and ensure you’ve got a decent UPS system installed. Afterward, you can check the BIOS version to make sure the update was successful. Happy updating!
