ASUS Strix GTX 1070 Hysteresis not working? Fan up and down
I bought a ASUS ROG Strix GTX 1070 a week ago, and everything about it is great, except when it has to go from idle to workload, and from workload to idle. Every time the fan ramps up and down multiple times for 2 short seconds as shown in this picture http://i.imgur.com/VAtvAVf.png It's most obviou...

Ok so I guess that's more reading for me
I'm going for a 1070 since I tend to keep my GPU for +3 years, and I don't think the 1060 will hold up.

GTX 1070 purchase advice
Hello, fellow silence lovers :) I am looking for some advice to upgrade my GPU since it's the obvious bottleneck in my system. First my sysinfo: Systeminfo os: Windows 10 mb: ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming cpu: Intel Core i5-6600K gpu: GTX 660 2 GB ram: HyperX Fury DDR4-2666, 16 GB ssd: Samsung 830 Series MZ-...

Re: Silent-ish gaming build hardware advice (list included)
If you want to ensure some level of quietness in idle states (non-gaming states?), you might want to consider Corsair RMi Series. 550W is more than enough. I have failed to turn on the fan on my Corsair RM650 even with my GTX 970, which implies that total power consumption in my main rig (which is ...

Silent-ish gaming build hardware advice (list included)
Hello, old SPCR enthusiast here, finally ready to upgrade from his old trustworthy core2. I plan to keep the new setup for at least +3 years, perhaps boosting the longevity with a GPU upgrade down the road. I do not plan on doing any crazy overclocking. Any input is greatly appreciated :) I based my...

How much power does an idling optical drive use?
Hello fellow perfectionists.
Is it worthwhile to disconnect the 4molex from your optical drive once you have installed windows and the few programs that still get distributed through a physical media? I haven't used my dvd drive in months.

Noisy headphones or noisy audio out?
Hi, I have 3 components that I use with my onboard sound (ASUS P5Q PRO): Behringer MS16 - pretty awesome studio speakers at an affordable price. Sennheiser HD500 - had these awesome headphones since 2003, but they're starting to break apart, literally. SteelSeries Flux - bought these headphones as a...

Getting 60fps in high setting at 1920x1080. Still getting some really annoying micro stutters, but it seems it's a bug they're working to fix.
And yeah it's pretty ridiculous... My old 4850 was +80 degrees idling in windows and +90 in-game. gtx660 is 30 degrees idling and 40 ingame heh

I bought a http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N660-TF-2GD5-OC.html and I can certainly recommend it. Even inside my rather old Antec P150 case it's silent and doesn't get too hot. Thanks for the advice to wait a bit.

Thanks for the heads-up regarding new gtx's. I would prefer having an nvidia card since the catalyst drivers are weird. Half the resolutions are only filling 85% of the screen.

Sorry for bump ;= I took your advice to heart and have decided to get a 7850. Below are the 27 choices in my region of the world. It seems there's no difference between the 1gb and the 2gb versions until you get into the 2048x1536 and above resolutions, which I wont be doing. I've read some reviews ...

Re: GPU upgrade from 4850 to 7770 a good purchase?
I'm currently playing the game at 1364x768 at ultra-low settings with everything at low or off setting. My cpu cores are getting loaded ~50-60% on cpu1 and ~35-50% on cpu2. My gpu memory is 439mb dedicated and 75mb dynamic. I assume that would be higher if i didn't play in low resolution with ultra-...

Onboard graphics AND expansion card?
Hi, been a while since I built a system and I noticed your test system has onboard gpu, so I've got 2 questions: Does it makes sense (noise/heat/money-wise) to get a motherboard with onboard GPU to use when idle/browsing/movie, and then a "real" graphics card for gaming use? Could it cause problems ...

Hi I'm the happy owner of a Synology DS211j ( official site ) I've got 2x 2tb western digital, WD20EARS-00MVWB0 The fan noise and the hdds spin sound is fine, but the seek noise is really really high. Probably because the hdds get screwed directly into the chassis. I have placed my Nas on 2 pieces o...

My Seasonic s12 430w Rev. 1a is very noisy for some odd reason. It is by far the loudest surce of noise in my system and it never ramps up or down, it just stays at the same level all the time. I don't know if it has been this way always or if it is a problem that started recently as I only switched...

Asus A8N-E, Cool & Quiet doesn't work
For some reason I can't get CnC to work, the cpu speed stays at 2ghz. I have installed version 1.2.2.2 cnc drivers from Asus' homepage and set Power scheme to Minimal Power Management. Both CnC and ACPI APIC support are enabled in bios, but I don't know if the Hyper Transport freq should be left at ...

Hello fellow audiophiles. I need some advice on a 120mm cpu fan for xp-120 or Scythe ninja, cooling a non-oc venice a64 3200+. 120mm fans @ edbpriser.dk The options are quite limited in Denmark, in fact, the only fan that seems to be recognisable is the Nexus but it's quite pricy (incl transport it'...
