Re: Fanless VGA Cards list -- a start!
Augh, this forum is such a disgusting mess. We need a WIKI or an open google doc spreadsheet, not a messy messy forum. How cool would it be if you could just go to 1 website and find what's the fastest video card that's silent or at least quiet when idle. I don't have 20 hours to research a card, l...

Yawn.... Frostytech is better
Meh, I haven't found anything at ALL as near as good and scientific as Frostytech's methods. Nobody else can touch them when you want to do some real hard core comparing. I only wish they reviewed more fans quicker.

Passive 8800GT still no avail. - update.
I'm sure by now, we've all seen this: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3165 When I saw that, I figured that's all I need, more advertising so monkeys will take up all these cards, leaving them with the pricing high and the availability low no ZERO. These are the only 2 places in the USA...

http://www.sparkle.com.tw/News/SP8800GTpassive/news_SP8800GT_passive_EN.html Alright, someone give a shout out when they find this card to purchase. Tiger Direct seems to be their unfortunate channel of choice. Hopefully others will pick it up. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/sea...

Gigabyte will 8600GT - betcha
I bet $20 Gigabyte will come out with a 8600GT with passive cooling. They did with the 6600Gt, and 7600GT. Just seems like the next step. That's what I'm waiting for. Otherwise, the Arctic Cooling devices ($30) are so quiet, one is not able to tell the difference between that and passive. I've used ...

I have two Silentmaxx HDD Silencer Rev 2.0
I have two Silentmaxx HDD Silencer Rev 2.0 Unlike the:" Nexus Drive-A-Way SilentDrive Copper Scythe Quiet Drive It makes your HDD quieter AND cooler , which is important to at least me. why should I enclose my HDD and bake it? - Heat is the enemy of parts, etc. Silentmaxx's poor customer service? WT...

Bottom Line: The guy wanted a "silent "not quiet" system" - his words. I can understand. I have well over $10,000 in stereo equiptment, I love my music and when I listen to it, I want to hear the music, not some computer grinding or whirling away. You go build a P180 SYSTEM (stock; with no case damp...

That's interesting that these power supplies were released 2.5-3 years ago (2003) Because the 400 watt Nexus PSU I have in my system has the 24 Pin main power connector to the motherboard, which, just the technology, hit the market about 1.5 year ago (April 2005). And Nexus released this specific PS...

IMHO, There is no reason why you need a NEXUS 500 watt, you have 1 DVD drive and 1 HDD, a 350watt or 400 will do you well. I have almost the same CPU/MB requirements you do, and one additional HDD and DVD drive. and I do fine with 400. the 500 is louder than 350 and 400. While the Nexus 16.2dB PSU i...

Well just don't be too disapointed when you make the system and are sitting there in silence, and can clearly hear your computer of course they recommended that case, they were in bed with the company making it. It's an excellent case, but it's not silent without costly insulation, and hdd enclosure...

In your price range... all looks good. nice passive cooled things. To reach the quietness you require, you need 2 simple things. 1. A Nexus case http://www.endpcnoise.com/cgi-bin/e/std/sku=breeze_config.html This has got to be the most under-rated silent case out there. I can't beleive more people h...
