Open Case Antec Nine Hundred
FWIW, I have an Antec Nine Hundred. I'm impressed by the cooling from the 3 120mm and 1 200mm fans at slow speed. Since I mainly use a notebook PC now, I set up the case as a spare backup machine with an old 3.06GHz Northwood HT P4 on a highly integrated Asus motherboard. Same Zalman 7000cu HS/fan a...

I was comparing the Nine Hundred to the P150. I see Antec lists the Nine Hundred as only 1.4" taller. I have to wonder if they are measuring height from the front or back of the case. That sloping top accounts for at least an inch. FWIW, using my measuring tape on the one on my dining room table, t...

Because of said fans, the media drives need to be mounted on the bottom. .... What's that indentation in the top for? .... This case is too tall. Point 1: Not true -- the drives are on the bottom in those pictures because that's how the person wanted them. There are three "cages" with up to 3 drive...

Antec Nine Hundred: I do like it
Saw it, found info about in on the web, and ordered one right away (from TechonWeb instead of NewEgg because NewEgg wanted 50% more $'s). It's sitting on my living room table. Haven't actually used it yet, though. (I'm waiting for a new model of video card to become available.) To me it seemed like ...

CPU heatsink testing orientation matters?
Forgive me for asking a question that must have been discussed at length in the past, but I couldn't find an old thread on this: Which orientation does SPCR use to test heatpipe-based coolers? Upright (e.g., as for HTPC), sideways (e.g., like a tower PC with the board and heatsink mounted sideways),...

Papst 120mm 4412 F/2GLL and F/2GLLL ?
What about the extra low noise Papst 120mm 4412 F/2GLL and F/2GLLL I donated to you back in June? Even though they aren't readily available in North America as far as I know, I wanted to find out if they might be quieter than the orange ones most people assume are the quietest. (I'd hate to think th...

Re: Where to buy the Papst 120mm 4412 F/2GLL? (41CFM/18dB)
I'm in the US, do you know what online vendor has these? http://www.pcsilent.de/en_group_papst_fans.asp Expect to add on the order of $25 for shipping to USA. BTW, I donated one of the GLL's and one of the GLLL's to SPCR for future testing. I was buying a fans to replace a noisy chinese fan in a th...

In short, there's no guarantee that every new unit will be flawless, but your chances seem much better with the newer ones. I've been happy with mine for a couple of months.

Scythe SCNJ-1000 Ninja vs. Zalman Reserator?
FYI -- I asked this question over in the general CPU Cooling forum, but it probably needs an opinion from people who have done CPU watercooling, so here's a crossreference to that post:

Scythe SCNJ-1000 Ninja vs. Zalman Reserator?
The Scythe SCNJ-1000 Ninja looks like it'd be almost silent when a 120mm fan is used at something like 7v or even less. But how does it compare to Zalman Reserator (with its submersable pump)? Would the Reserator result in a noticably quieter PC system while keeping the CPU as cool or cooler? (If no...

FWIW, my thoughts on the case: 1. Excellent concept, some excellent ideas. 2. Especially like the flow-through ventilation compartment for the PSU (fanless PSU in my case) & drives with 120mm fan in the middle. 3. Not sure if the video card vent would be compatible with big fanless heatsinks on thei...

I hope so. I've been watching this thread and finally ordered one from buy.com the other day. It's installed now -- so far, so good. If I don't post here again, you can assume it's doing fine. FYI, serial # D050155..... The Good news: Finally got rid of that PS fan noise. The Bad news: Now my low no...

How about a heatsink the size of a case panel?
More pipes may be in the works, but it still appears to be limited by the cooling on the other side (the large heatsink). How about a big heatsink that covers much of the unused side of the PC box (right side when looking at the front of the PC)? There's lots of area there. A 1/2" (maybe 3/4...
