Someone has already pointed out that, for several models, the Server-class drives are identical to the desktop models ... the one the comes to mind for me is the Maxtor DiamondMax 10/Maxline III. The ONLY difference between these drives is the burn-in test (Maxline is more stringent) and possibly t...

People who tell you to look for a 5 year warranty are correct. People who claim warranty period doesn't matter are incorrect. Server class drives are superior in every way. Better components, better design, tighter tolerances, more stringent QA etc etc. Beyond that, whether you have good or bad "luc...

Adding rubber drive grommets to an older Antec drive cage
I have this OEM Antec (Chenming) case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811125465 It has the older style Antec drive cages, with no extra clearance between the cage and sides of the hard drives. Anyone know if the newer Antec drive cages (with grommets) will fit and latch properl...

Any cases available with the following:
-- 1.0mm Steel SECC w/ beige front bezel;
-- 120x38mm intake fan (preferably in front of the HD bay)
-- 120x25mm rear exhaust fan
Seems like a short and basic list, yet in spite of a month's searching I haven't found any cases that come off the shelf with these features.

It's really disappointing Scythe didn't put a little more design effort into the Ninja's fan mount. It's the one consistent complaint I've seen about an otherwise great cooler. How much effort would it have taken to come up with a simple thin frame with four screw holes on each side? I could build o...

Personally I'd take the CPU/memory and buy a used replacement motherboard on eBay for 10 or 20 bucks. It'll be less expensive, not to mention a lot less hassle compared to trying to work around all the limitations of the eMachines bios. On many of these systems you can't even disable the onboard vid...

I'm not sure what drugs the reviewer was on, but his claim that the 9500 produces "too much noise for home use" at 12V is absurd. I just installed a 9500 a few days ago and its fan noise at 12V is completely inaudible over my two relatively quiet 120mm Panaflo case and disk fans. I'm a bit underwhel...

That's the dumbest claim I've ever heard. Circular heatsinks with embedded fans have been around longer than TT has existed as a company. E.g. anyone remember the old VGA chipset coolers? I bought one back in '97 or '98. Still have it. TT can claim they were the first to patent the idea, but they su...

Zalman 9500 cooler
I just ordered a Zalman CNPS9500LED and was wondering... Initial reviews of this cooler found some problems, i.e. non-flat mounting surfaces on many units, relatively noisy fans, etc. Has Zalman addressed any of these issues? Also, reference was made in another SPCR thread to replacing the stock fan...

Another "Which PSU?" question (for an older system
Hi All, I discovered this site a few days ago and it's a wealth of information.. Only now I'm suffering from info overload and am getting confused about what *should be* a basic PSU upgrade. Thanks for taking the time to read through this info and for any suggestions. I have a 300W SPI supply which ...
