Re: Fractal Design Node 304 Mini-ITX Case
This case is a little gem. Perfect for a little server to be stashed away. I recently buildt one using just a single fan (Noctua NF-A15-PWM) at the back and a Noctua NH-U12P SE2 running passive, and the result is very good. It's tight, but in no way impossible to do a good clean build in this case w...

Re: ASUS GeForce GTX 680 DirectCU II OC
I recently switched from an Asus 580 DirectCUII to this cards little brother GTX670-DirectCUII TOP, and while they use a very similar type cooler, the difference in fan-noise is just staggering. For me the upgrade was worth it because of the decrease in fan-noise alone. Add in GTX680 reference card ...

Re: How powerful is a Sandy Bridge IGP?
I'm running this system with 2 very slow spinning case-mounted Scythe pwm fans (<450rpm). I have tried running with no active cooling, but to me the southbridge turned uncomfortably hot. Don't have the equipment to check heatsink surface temp and the onboard temp monitor isn't known for exact readin...

Re: How powerful is a Sandy Bridge IGP?
The HTPC in my signature draws ~30W idle, and running full tilt on the cpu+gpu (4 threads + gpu) it draws 64W on default settings. Undervolting can draw that lower into the high 50's. This is messured at the wall. I also have a small LCD display/ir-monitor combo running from internal usb, and an ext...

Re: Seasonic X-400FL combo with Antec Fusion
I'm using the x-400 in an Antec NSK-2480 case which is the same case with a different front. The PSU doesn't even get lukewarm under 100% load (see sig for HTPC setup) so you'll probably be fine

That's why the Seasonic X series were invented (and their Corsair AX siblings). Best of both worlds. Fanless until the fan is actually turned on and earning it's placeVicotnik wrote:Every fan has to earn its place, I'd say. Why buy a PSU with a fan?

Re: X-400 buzz noise
I'm using an x-400 in my HTPC, and it's completely dead silent. No buzz, whine or anything even when i stick my ear 1cm from the psu. Since it's located among my livingroom media equipment it's also behind a Monster surge protector/power conditioner.

Re: Intel Core i3-2100T & Core i5-2400S Low Power CPUs
I have a Asus P8H67M EVO with a i5 2500. Be warned that the latest 1850 firmware fixes a "serious" voltage bug on this motherboard. In previous BIOS versions the CPU would idle at dangerously low voltages after a hard-reboot, and if you had set the undervolting options directly in the bios (not usi...

Re: Intel Core i3-2100T & Core i5-2400S Low Power CPUs
Having finally reached a stable CPU-undervolt on my i3-2100T sample the result was -0.095v. Leaving it idle at ~0.860v and ~1.015v fully loaded. Done on an Asus P8H67M EVO motherboard.
Now to do the same with the GPU

By the way, your temps are much lower than mine. At stock speeds, my (0.2 GHz faster) CPU is 22 C hotter at load? I idle around 35 C and ambient here is 19.4C. Something seems wrong. Are you overclocking at all? I don't quite understand the memory divider options in BIOS. From BIOS screen shots around the web, it doesn't look like memory divider options are expressed in "X:Y" notation. Instead, you pick a speed you want your RAM to run at? Is this right? I plan on taking my E21...

You can always control your Noctua by hooking it up to the CHA_FAN1 fan header instead. In fact, I'd say the positioning of the CPU_FAN header at the front of the board makes it more suitable for front chassis fans. Thanks for the confirmation on my suspicions. I just did exactly that, and it works...

The passive PSU will have trouble in the enclosed space of the NSK2480. Passive PSUs are not designed for NO airflow situations. They are designed to be fit in standard ATX cases with negative pressure cases were the pressure of the fans blowing out of the case will draw air across the PSU, cooling...

How quiet is that Spinpoint M5S drive? I'm thinking about that exact same model # for a laptop, where will be very close to it, with little to block the noise. so far, running suspended, it's dead quiet. hard to judge by the pictures, but it kinda looks like the heatpipes are screwd in place ala the Zalman VNF100. If so the heatpipes can probably be pushed a bit closer to the edge of the card. Don't have any exact measurements to back up this theory though.

Re: Remote controlling a HTPC
Also, I'd be hesitant about importing something like the 2480B from Australia, since it might become available in Europe in the near future.
