Manual
I'd still like to see photos. I wonder if it offers any real protection for the drive. It appears to be positioned as a desktop device, not a portable device.

Antec MX-25 2.5" hdd enclosure?
Anyone seen the internals of the Antec MX-25 yet? Seems like such basic stuff, but not even the manual is online, yet vendors have them in stock.

Lower power consumption vs D945GCLF
My understanding is that the D945GCLF uses the 945GC chipset. The B202 uses the 945GSE chipset, which is a mobile chipset with much lower power consumption. I wish I could buy a mini-ITX board with that chipset! Nevertheless, the following statement in the article appears to be in error: More import...

Can anyone tell me if the EEE B202 has a BIOS option to turn back on when power is restored after a power failure? The manual doesn't appear to be available online. You might have better luck directing your question to an ASUS support forum at http://vip.asus.com/forum/ The manual is most definitel...

Video card heatsink fitment - mounting holes
I want to transplant a passive cooler from an ATI HD 2600 XT to a GeForce 8500 GT or a 7650 GT ... the ATI drivers don't work for me. Can this be done? Are the mounting holes the same? I can't find an aftermarket cooler with heatpipes that wrap around the side of the card - which is necessary for th...

I don't think this card is coming to the US market. You can buy them in Europe. I snagged one on eBay last week. Finally! It fits perfectly. But when connected to my TV it defaults to 10% overscan compensation, which sucks. The XP driver can override it but I don't think I can in OSX ... if I can ev...

If you're talking about the RX2600XT-T2D512EZ ... it doesn't look like it will fit in an Antec Fusion or NSK2400. The video card I have in mine right now sticks up too high, so I can't install the lid on the case. The Sapphire looks like a good bet for the Antec cases since the heatpipes go around t...

Almost forgot to follow up ... I got the 6.6A brick. It is not the same brick reviewed by SPCR, so who knows about efficiency. I haven't had time to hook it up to a kill-a-watt or even install it permanently yet. (I forgot to buy the ATX12V to drive power adapter, so I snipped the ATX12V leads from ...

...Eventually OSes will probably offer filesystems designed specifically *for* SSD's, both to help with wear leveling and to enhance performance. In the near term, logfs may be an option for Linux users. I know I'm keeping an eye on it! What about UDF? It's designed for things like CD-RW, which has...

Got a question. If i partition an SSD, does the wear-levelling work at an even lower level so that it will spread the wear accross the whole disk instead of just that partition? The SSD is of course unaware of partitions ... but you hit the $64 question. Sandisk CF cards do wear leveling using pool...

I agree it is cutting it close, but I wonder. The TDP of the P4-2.4 is at least 10W higher, depending on the model. I won't have any hard drive or optical drive. Were you able to measure the actual load the system drew during CPUburn? Although I expect the CPU to be nearly 100% idle, it would be una...

I switched the CPU to the 1.8A, removed the hard drives, and did some informal tests. Performance of the Samsung SSD is awesome. I am very happy with them. The 4GB model is giving me 54MB/s reads. My only complaint is with the 44-pin adapter I am using (Startech) ... some IDE drivers complain that I don't have an 80-pin cable and limit me to 33 MHz transfers. The new Linux libata sta...

I ordered two of the Samsung 4GB SSD's from Newegg yesterday. It looks like Newegg just got in a few 1.8" Samsung SSDs (4GB, 8GB, and 16GB). Did you get the 1.8" or the 2.5"? You'll have to let us know how they perform. :D I got the 2.5" ... easier to mount, no interface to figure out. I noticed th...

Look again... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208298 The Transcend definitely supports UDMA4. I suspect the ADATA must support some form of DMA as well, since PIO mode 6 maxes out at 25MB/sec. I stand corrected. There was another Transcend CF that claimed to support DMA (no...

The Transcend / A-Data cards don't support UDMA, and the A-DATA only supports PIO. The speed ratings of most off brand cards are bogus. The Sandisk Extreme IV and the new Lexar UDMA cards seem to be the only choice when it comes to CF. I think I will get a Sandisk Extreme IV. I was just wondering wh...

Yep, I am looking at the 120W DC-DC picoPSU part. I bet the motherboard is probably at least 10W if not 20W or more. I didn't find any power consumption data on the 875P when I looked earlier. PicoPSU power brick question
I have a Tyan 1U server (B5103G12S2) which has an 875P chipset and socket 478. It currently has a 2.8 GHz Celeron D in it, as well as two SATA drives. The system is hot and power hungry. The PSU it comes with is woefully hot running and inefficient. I aim to tame it. The application I have for it (L...

I don't think the Transcend SSDs are really SSD's at all. They appear to be nothing more than repackaged CF. No UDMA support, absolutely no mention of performance in Transcend's literature ... leads me to believe that not much should be expected from them. You'd be better off buying a Sandisk Extrem...

Newegg finally got the WD3200AAKS and WD3200AAJS today. They carry a substantial price premium over the non-AA models. I guess that will disappear when the older models have left the channel. I just bought two of the WD3200AAKS. I really wanted the 320GB T7K250, as it seems to have better performanc...
