Re: advice on, alternatives to Define Mini or CM Elite 431 P
Thank, you, kuzzia, for the Antec NSK-3480 suggestion. I jumped at another possibility.... Unfortunately, there is insufficient room for my large CM Hyper 212 Evo cooler. Also, it would be a challenge to add another HDD in the future. How has your experience been with the Cooler Master Elite 341, it...

Re: advice on, alternatives to Define Mini or CM Elite 431 P
Thanks, Abula, for the comments and suggestions. I think you are right about being able to fit both the SSD and one HDD in that bottom, non-removable Temjin TJ08-E cage. That said I would not want to forclose the possibility of adding more HDDs in the future. For anyone in my dilemma, I recommend tr...

Re: advice on, alternatives to Define Mini or CM Elite 431 P
Thank you, edh and kuzzia, for your question and suggestion. I neglected to say what motivated me to want that extra room . A key part is the desire to add fast RAM with high, integrated heat spreaders , in particular Crucial's 16GB kit 1866 DDR3 PC3-14900 memory module, http://www.crucial.com/store...

advice on, alternatives to Define Mini or CM Elite 431 Plus?
Are there other cases I should consider, esp. aluminum ones (but see the Lian Li ones I rejected)? I am looking for a less than full ATX case for a mATX MB and modest power CPU/GPU (see below). I hope to get one that's not real heavy or large (but not strictly so--see the Define Mini), easy to work ...

Re: alternatives, comments Samsung 840, WD Green 2TB, LG Blu
Thanks, Michael Sandstrom and kuzzia for your tips, I did some googling and see that SSDs need no shock and vibration mounting in desktops so just about anything works. The Crucial m4 looks like a very good choice. I could also get it for less. I had decided to get the Intel 330 because of a little ...

Re: alternatives, comments Samsung 840, WD Green 2TB, LG Blu
Again, thanks, Mats, for the advice. I relaxed right after reading it.
Afterwards I did some checking.
One helpful site was this one in case others want to see more about this issue and why the point Mats makes is right:

Re: alternatives, comments Samsung 840, WD Green 2TB, LG Blu
Any comments on getting the slower (3Gb/s instead of 6Gb/s), smaller cache (32 MB instead of 64 MB) model of the 2 TB WD Green drive? When I went to Fry's the clerk gave me the slower, 32 MB cache model at $10 less than Newegg price (for the speedier, larger cache model I wanted them to price match)...

Re: alternatives, suggestions quiet moderate power desktop?
Thanks, kuzzia, for your comments.
What alternative MB(s) do you have in mind?
I am partial to ASUS higher end boards, but Gigabyte also seems very good. I should not hold MSI today responsible for the capacitor failure of my last board from them.

Re: alternatives, suggestions quiet moderate power desktop?
Thank you, Abula, for your suggestions. I will check them out. The "Pro" was a typo. My mistake. The wish list has the less expensive 840, just a tad more expensive than the m4. I will keep the m4 in mind as it has a longer warranty. I selected the Temjin over the PS07 based on the final comments in...

alternatives, suggestions quiet moderate power desktop?
Suggestions, alternatives appreciated. I aim for an all around (photos, calendar & email, websurfing, writing, data analysis), not heavy gaming, so a quiet, moderate power rig with solid components. The main OS will be linux (currently Kubuntu), but will be dual, etc. boot (Win 7) and eventually VMs...

Re: Nexus Value 430 PSU in Silverstone Temjin TJ08-E?
Thanks, tim851, for the suggestion on newer PSUs, Can I assume you think the Value 430 will fit well and work in the Temjin? I am not familiar with top input fans and upside down placements. It seems the Seasonic G360 might also be a reasonable alternative. I am impressed by the SPCR review and foru...

Nexus Value 430 PSU in Silverstone Temjin TJ08-E?
I like the specs in the SPCR reviews of both the Nexus Value 430 PSU and the unusual Silverstone Temjin TJ08-E, but will they work together? The SPCR Temjin review says The power supply mounts to the top of the case upside down. If it has a 120 mm fan, it draws air from the top. while the 430 expect...

Re: cooling an AMD A10-5800K with Noctua NH-L9a or alternati
Thanks, johannes, for pointing out the MP3 recordings which I had passed over when I read the review as I had not listened to them before. The 34 dBA was not terrible if you don't have to hear it all the time. The CM Hyper 212 Evo also looks like a good choice. Newegg buyer feedback only faults inst...

cooling an AMD A10-5800K with Noctua NH-L9a or alternative?
I've read the SPR review of the NH-L9 and want to know options if it is too risky a choice for the AMD-5800K with socket FM2, esp. if you give it a modest overclock at all. Noctua says the NH-9Ls are for up to 65W TDP for AMD but has a qualification that leads me to believe that I could use it with ...

experience with GV-N66256DP AGP 8X or with GVN66128DP?
Hi, I am considering getting the passively cooled Gigabyte GV-N66256DP AGP 8X video card? My hesitation has been around compatibility with my older Asus CUSL2 motherboard with an AGP Pro 4X max connector. I would like to know if others have had good and bad experiences with the GV-N66256DP AGP 8X vi...

Asus EN6600 Silencer vs Gigabyte 6600 silentpipes?
I searched this forum and all the others to see if anyone discussed experiences with the Asus EN6600 Silencer. Two people mention it, but there was no commentary like took place around the Gigabyte passively cooled 6600 boards. Does the Silencer perform well in terms of heat dissipation, robustness ...
