wow, given that W7B is supposed to be optimized for netbooks, I'm a little suprised at how large the install is. still, it's good news that I can use the same ISO for different installs, thanks.I installed W7B into a virtual machine - just fired it up, it used 16.9GB to install.

Windows 7 question (activation)
Hi everyone, I'm currently downloading the Windows 7 Beta and I want to install it on several different machines. I realise I will need a different product key for each machine, however can I use the same burned DVD ISO file each time (just as you would with an XP or Vista install disc)? also does a...

Hi, I hope that S ED (surface-conduction electron-emitter display) TV's (developed by Canon and Toshiba, together) will come to market, at some point -- sooner rather than later. They are better than any of the current displays: They look like a CRT in terms of brightness, speed and viewing angle. ...

in general, a single, slow moving fan will make a machine consume less wattage than no fan at all would consume. that's something to think about. Eh? Indeed. I have no idea what that means. Why would adding a fan make the system use less power? mosfets lose efficiency as the junction temp increases...

Nick, it's very charitable of you to take it upon yourself to be Microsoft's appointed vanquisher of all users who have anything uncomplimentary to say about Vista, however I fear the mountain of negative feeling towards Vista cannot be dissipated by one person alone. Very little will be achieved by...

USA is bankrupt. Your debt is so huge that it cannot realistically ever be paid back; you are owned by China and Japan. The debt is in dollars. The US has paper and printing presses, all that is necessary to pay off that debt if it wishes to take that option. to pay it back in devalued dollars. how...

What about the CM Eclipse? It seems to have the larger fins and smaller fans you recommended in the SpinQ review. The mounting system is not push-pins. It does only have 4 heat pipes, though, which is pretty low for such a massive beast. I just like the Darth Vader-style airflow deflector, if you'r...

THe simple fact is that the PSU won't drive my rig since the card was installed.. it was 100% rock stable beforehand so it's definitely a PSU issue (the card itself is not faulty). if the pc is not stable following installation of the GTX280, it doesn't necessarily follow that the PSU is to blame. ...

If you dont use a dedicated video card, then yea your overall power requirements have probably gone down over the last few years. But for the rest of us, what little power conservation CPU's have given us over the last year, VGA cards have more than made up for. Onboard solutions are becoming power...

What you're saying is true about nuclear power plants for instance. They need some time to get running. most countries' electrical grids have a combination of baseload generators (usually nuclear) and "spinning/topping reserve" generators (usually gas-fired, ie CCGT). nuclear is good at providing a...

Yeah, that's a solution. I have no doubt many a reader will say I go too far in damning the mounting system because they've dealt with others just as bad. My point is simple: It shouldn't be so dang hard just to mount something as basic as a heatsink. They take the fun out of it DIY computer buildi...

while pre-cooling the intake air to the units has the gee-whiz wow geek factor (and should also mean you need less airflow, as the delta between the air and the equipment temp is greater, so heat transfer is improved) like other people have said, on a purely practical, pragmatic view, it probably do...

Another comment I would like to make is that if the case had higher end hardware installed, i.e. a mini ITX AM2 motherboard with HDMI out for example, it would be even more impressive and immediately raise the interest of people looking for a HTPC. have to agree with this, the Nano CPU is very far ...
