facinating thread! not convinced about the gyroscopic stuff, gravity is a constant force. You need to add a force to the system to create precession. Also, as the disk is symmetrical and perfectly balanced, tilting it wont place extra force on the bearing in order to tilt it further and cause proble...

can only see implementation of on-board GPU's (9100 ect) on speedfans webpage so I think I'll strip down a digital sensor (you can remove the connector to make them slimmer) or buy the analogue kit.

TD, I also use the Tban and I think it is great. I have recently bought a x850 XT plus arctic silencer 5 and using ati tray tools (amoungst other programs) I can adjust the fan speed using the ATI onboard pwm controller and the temp info from the GPU. However, even at 4% ( the lowest non-zero amount...

not sure about the dampened stuff, but I just modded my zalman9500 with 100mm air ducting (spiral wire covered in thin white plastic) to front of case and then a detachable piece out of the window. The 100mm plastic ring you can buy mates up perfectly with the 9500 fins and at the other end I've squ...

I'm interested in buying a Nexus 120mm fan, but I want to run it at 5V. The problem is that I heard the Nexus has issues running at 5V? do the nexus have trouble running at 5v...or just starting at 5v? I'm using the mCubed T-balancer which starts all fans at 100% when booting up but perhaps some of...

i hope this isn't too far off topic. thats a neat finish. Sticking them to the outside of an ordinary case should damp sound a bit too. And you get to choose an original pattern in the process :D . Mine is painted with black hammerite hammered finish, but I love marbling, I'm off to Homebase in the morning!

if you open the drawer via software (Nero before a verify for instance) does the drawer open the door (and close it too? lol) or will it strain against it? the SLK3000b looks indentical internally to the compucase 6A19 and the acousticase C6607, though the C6607 comes with special feet and a full accoustic wadding kit. the SLK is different externally to some degree, I think it looks sleeker, but I've never liked doors on the front, they always snap off...

it depends on how they are supported i guess, my previous design just had a sheet rolled into a cylinder of the right diameter to fit on a zalman 7000cu and it pointed straight out of the case (297mm), the end of this indeed tried to collapse but I had some UV braid stuff so I made a loop and stuck ...

Ok, here is what mCubed had to say about the attenuator issue: The PWM noise comes mostly with high frequencies. We are working with frequencies between 0 and 200. Some fans do a little rumbling at low speeds. That rumbling can be diminished with our attenuators which turn digital voltage into anal...

i had to look up canola oil....rape seed oil i spose :-)

yes impurities are the problem.... though it would be such a messy job changing parts if submerged in oil....and then you'd have trouble with the electrical contacts I guess.

thinking back, I spread mine evenly too, so I apologise for my earlier comment. I do think the black packages the GPU cores are set in are unlike the athlon-style cores though, and are mostly bigger. Whether these packages are heat-spreaders is perhaps another question

i've made fresh air tunnels with sheets of transparency plastic (overhead projector stuff). you can make any diameter cylinders, chopped cones, or even rectangle one end or both ends different. And it lets light through if you have a window.

depends on the level of quality required really. i think you apply a voltage to the quartz...and it vibrates physically. It might be same technology as cigarette lighters where u press a button to get the spark (it squeezes a quartz crystal) in reverse.
