You mentioned playback in 3 different rooms...the method you use may help determine the horsepower required... one zone -> external amp -> speaker distribution to 3 rooms (lowest hp_ multizone (multiple soundcards driving different tunes to ea room) (highest hp) I'd also lean toward dual core to sep...

I was annoyed by this article as well. The author couldn't even get the spectrum information correct.

That being said, I don't think I'd strap a wireless router to my head. 6ft away, sure. Inverse square law rules.

the higher temp at idle is more likely due to the low fan rpm on the ninja and airflow through the case than dealing with the AS5. At best, you'd see a difference of a degree C or two by reapplication. up the rpm's or improve case airflow and see what happens. Personally, I'd focus on the HDD. Worry...

Dual Core multitasking - how well is it working?

Ok, a question for all of you that have dual core rigs - how well is it actually working in XP when running multiple concurrent applications? Case in point - what about playing a CPU intensive game and also doing another cpu intensive task or two at the same time? Does it bog down the game (assumpti...

Prices are probably comparable if you do similar builds. Apple tends to be price competitive at the base model, and then charges a premium for large HDD's, more memory, etc.. - upsides to Mac Mini: - ships with OS, so don't have to pay for it separately. - prebuilt working system. Unpack and turn on...

It's a level of customization that I really don't want to do. Plus my gen 1 Mini only gets about 5-6hrs per charge. I'd rather wait for a higher capacity small form factor iPod with the higher time per charge (~18hr).

We think alike. I've got a 1st gen 4GB Mini that I use for travel and wished that it was 8GB. This 12GB meets my needs quite well. It'll be 2 years before Flash can get to this density/pricepoint.

Just saw an add in today's paper for an HP Pentium M laptop with 533MHz FSB and they are using DDR333 in it. Who knows what drives them to do this stuff...sort of like Dell shipping XP desktop systems with 256MB of RAM.

Since I plan on building a system around an AMD Athlon 3500 Venice ...

Take a look at the bottom of your PC case. If there are any intake areas for ventilation, then just placing the PC on towels, etc, may hamper the PC's airflow. The big thing is to isolate/decouple the PC vibrations from the wood floor. If your case does have air intake on the bottom, then maybe you ...
