so what is themost quiet review there is for 2.5 hd? scropio? m6? I'd agree with chylld that the momentus is still a quiet drive. I went back to my older Fujitsu MHV2040BH thinking that it was quieter than the Seagate. It isn't - my mind was playing tricks. The park is quieter, well, less obtrusive...

Yes, the seek noise is quiet (as long as the seeks are contiguous as opposed to random). The click-squeak noise you are hearing, almost like there is a damn trapped bird cheeping inside the laptop, is the disk parking itself to save power. I found it unbearably annoying. The time out on seagates (an...

(cross posted from the "whining laptops" thread + info on video card. I haven't run speedfan or anything. Didn't occur to me :? ) The laptop I'm using right now is a Dell Latitude D520, T2300 at 1.66GHz. Video card is inbuilt Intel 945GM Express on a 14.1" 5x4 display (I don't really dig widescreens...

My solution was to go to Device Manager, select Universal Serial Bus Controllers, you'll see USB Root Hub a number of times... The laptop I'm using right now is a Dell Latitude D520, T2300 at 1.66GHz. The whining was the first thing I noticed and primarily on sites with Flash media. Like silentpcre...

It looks like a nice case. Bit $$$ but aren't they all. Concern I had was whether a Aopen 855 board with modded Zalman 7000AlCu (as per the Aopen P-M 855 review) would fit the case. The Zalman is 65mm high or thereabouts but may protrude beyond the edge of the motherboard slightly. From what I can s...

Thanks for the reply! I eventually listened to several laptops in a local Harvey Norman. You get some strange looks by going from machine to machine putting your ear to the keyboard :) The celerons were all pretty warm with blowing fans, one centrino model was cool and quiet. Some of the big 17" wid...

Celeron and Amilo Pro v2010
Hmmm. I think I learnt my lesson the hard way - ignore marketing. The Celeron Ms are *supposed* to be have reasonable power qualities but I bought an Amilo Pro v2010 and the fan is on pretty much most of the time. Which is quite annoying really. I looked at a number of different Celeron M laptops in...
