gunna add my .02 here. I just built a PC using the Asus 6150/430 AM2 board, and it was painless to setup and worked great out of the box. Has onboard video (6150) that supports PureVideo, which is nice for DVD's. Also onboard i/o connectors for VGA and DVI, a breakout panel for Component/Svid/RCA Vi...

ok.. 1. LiteOn makes a SATA DVDRW drive and its ALOT cheaper than the craptor. 2. I'm assuming you dont plan on doing much 3D gaming. Such a powerful system w/ lots of ram and a 7600GT talk about odd ball out. If thats the case (no gaming) just get a cheap passive 6200 or similar. 2D resolutions sho...

I know its not included w/ the heat sink (and it really should be), bu...

the cheapest way to support 3 monitors is through AMD and the Nforce 6150 boards. (with a catch though). what monitors are you using, LCD? CRT? are they connecting w/ VGA or DVI?? the best bet is to get a 6150 AMD socket am2 board and stick another low end PCI-e card w/ dual dvi. you can get up to 2...

Re: fan connector on motherboard?
the abit AB9-Pro has way more (7)n604 wrote:are there any motherboards that have more than 3 fan connectors on it?
CPU, SYS, NB, PWR, AUX1, AUX2, AUX3
CPU = 4-pin (compatible w/ 3-pin) the rest are all 3-pin. Controllable via BIOS FanEQ. (not sure about controllability w/ SpeedFan).

I would shy away from the NSK3300, its got a sfx power supply that will cost more to replace in the future (if so required). the NSK4400 is a little bigger, cheaper, and has a standard ATX PSU. I compeletely agree w/ a previous poster about replacing the CPU HSF. A XP-90 w/ a neus 92mm will be plent...

why not try one of the new WD "ks" series, 250gb, rated up in the top 1-3 w/ SPCR quiet 3.5" hdd's and its like $85. ALso you could probably save a few going w/ samsung or value line ram rather than the HyperX, a little over kill for this system.? also, consider a few Fanmates for the nexus's? not s...

Exactly. For what I understand, 7900 does not have a thermally controlled fan header. In this case, is there any other way to change the fan speed and noise on that VF700? I heard RivaTuner is an utility for that purpose, and I wonder if it would have the deired effect on this card... And how would...

i have an XP-120 w/ a Nexus connected to the CPU header on the motherboard. My board reads the speed @ 0rpm (too slow i guess), but the fan definately spins. idle temps (ambient temps are 23-26c) are anywhere from 31-36c. Load temps (video encoding) are in the low 50's. It's perfectly quiet and cool...
