I'm gonna say that the RAM should fit under the Genesis.

Re: Is 550W enough for i7 6700K + single GTX980Ti?
Meh. I agree with previous responders, I don't really see the point in pushing a fanless PSU fairly hard in a use case where the loss of the PSU fan won't even be noticed - those 6 HDDs and the GPU are going to completely negate any PSU fan noise anyway. Get a regular PSU that'll be more comfortable...

Re: Hold on buying any Nvidia card
Likewise, I care as much about VR as I do about 3D movies - nada. Plus why is it news that you might need new hardware for VR? Very few of today's GPUs are capable of pushing the kinda framerates a decent VR setup requires anyways, no doubt by the time VR is widespread and mainstream, every modern G...

Yes and yes :) and welcome. Owned the Solo 2 for a few years now, very happy with it. Tons of clearance for the GPU from any of the slots (10.5" GTX 780 shown): 1.jpg 2.jpg Also definitely room to replace the PSU, even with a tower cooler installed: 3.jpg I wouldn't want to replace the PSU every day...

I don't see any mention of the fan configuration in the R4. Is there at least one intake fan pushing air to the GPU, and one fan exhausting?

One wee omission I happened to notice - the door can in fact be latched - the little blue clip on the right side of the HDD (bottom left corner of this pic): http://www.silentpcreview.com/files/images/hp-microserver-gen8/12.jpg ...can be pushed down to hold the HDD bay door shut. Still the problem w...

Measured the PSU vent opening on my Solo II, it's exactly 142mm x 142mm.

Re: Antec Solo II questions
I don't think E-ATX will work in a Solo II, especially if the ATX power connector is along the "front" edge - there's not much clearance between the 3.5" drive cage and the motherboard. It's kinda cozy even with my standard ATX board if you want the ATX cable hidden behind the drive cage.

Kinda surprised it wasn't dinged more for the build quality issues - non-fitting side panels, random plastic damage during transit, case not going back together cleanly... I wouldn't buy a case if I knew it was prone to that kinda thing :-/. Thanks for the review though!

Re: Antec P182 -> Silverstone TJ08-e (considering)
Welcome :) I've just recently built a second machine (4670k, Z87I-Pro, GTX670) in a Cubitek Mini case, which is a thin-walled aluminium case - but still reasonably well built. Comparing it to my primary machine (2500k @ 4.5ghz, P8Z68-V, GTX780) in a foam-lined Solo 2, it's noticeably louder even whe...

Re: Corsair RM Series intro'd
Recently picked up the 550w model myself, and it really is quiet - I can't hear it when I plug in the AC, nor when I load it up - not even transient noise as the load changes. I've yet to manage to get the fan to spin up, even with my 780 running some heavy 3D! Some of the modular cables were a bit ...

Re: Want to help Corsair build the best silent case ever?
One thing that instantly puts me off is the idea of a top mount for a 2x120mm radiator. Most cases are either on a desk or on the floor, so the top fan openings are best placed to let sound out in the user's direction. Plus they're dust magnets if the machine is off or you're using them as an intake...

Re: SilverStone SG07 vs CoolerMaster Elite 130
The Elite 130 is pretty much designed for use with a 120mm all-in-one watercooler - there's space on the front intake for one, and you don't even have to sacrifice drives to fit one (an improvement over the Elite 120, which required you to remove the drive cage entirely to achieve the same thing). U...

Re: What's louder? Two 2-platter drives Or One 4-platter dr
Personally, I notice the combi/destructive noises caused by two HDDs far more than I notice the noise of a single "loud" HDD. HDDs, even of an identical make, rarely spin at *exactly* the same rotational speed, so you can end up with some weird acoustics. More of a problem if you're hard mounting dr...

No warping visible on mine, at least. There's a surround that protrudes ever so slightly, but well less than 1mm.

Re: Help! Efficent powersupply or broken killowatt meter?
That sounds about right, yes. 160w would be with the multiple HDDs spinning up, and without any power saving features active on the CPU. A 360w supply would more than handle that machine.

Re: Noise Blocker Eloop resonance...
Yeah, I noticed that too, although only with the fan mounted on my Kuhler 620 radiator, oddly, not with it mounted on the Ninja. I blame the material that the blades are made of, it feels brittle and makes a very strange noise if you tap it with your fingernail.

Idle is low 30s for both GPU and CPU, rises to mid 50s/low 60s under gaming load (GW2 at the moment, as probably the most stressful game I have). 20c-ish ambient in the room. All the fans spin at 600rpm at idle, CPU fan spins up to 1000rpm under load, front and rear fans to about 900. I can't tell i...

If you're concerned about noise, and don't intend to move the machine terribly often, I'd try to find something other than an aluminium case. Although Lian Li cases have awesome build quality, they're still lightweight and let a lot more noise out than a well built steel case. ... however, for the l...

Re: NF-S12B FLX still getting resonance
Have you tried running the front two fans at slightly different speeds? IE one at 800rpm, the other at 600rpm or so. The resonance may be due to constructive interference from the two fans close together. Even just try turning one off for a while to see how much of a difference it makes.

Re: New Antec Case 193 or 280 (or 183 maybe)
you probably want a case with a side intake of some sort to make sure the graphics cards aren't starved for air Not necessarily. A case with good front to back airflow would be better as this provides a better exit path for hot air. A mid mounted fan in one of the P series cases would have this eff...

Re: New Antec Case 193 or 280 (or 183 maybe)
The P280 is really nothing special, compared to the majority of the cases on the market - it does away with the divided zones of the P183, does away with support for the CP PSUs, does away with the more solid, removable drive cages and does away with the multi-ply construction of the side panels. In...

I can't quite figure it out from the pics, but might there be room to mount an Antec Kuhler 620 or similar on the back of the drive cage for CPU cooling? It'll possibly be too thick, but just thought I'd put the idea out there .
