Mounting a 92 mm fan on an 80 mm heatsink
Currently, I have a CPU HS with an 80 mm fan, which I would like to swap for a Nexus fan. However, I might also get a new 92 mm heatsink later on. So my question is: would it be a good idea to buy a 92 mm fan now and try to mount it on my old HS, or could the fact that it is "too large" make it nois...

Difference between case fans and CPU fans
I've noticed that some fans are sold as "case fans" and some as "CPU fans". Is there any real difference? Won't a case fan fit well to a CPU heat sink, for example?

The serial number of the PSU is S0509... (I don't remember the last digits, and i don't have it here). The warranty sticker looks broken. The other hardware is Abit NF7-S (v2.0) motherboard, Athlon XP 2500+ running at around 1950 MHz, nVidia GeForce 6600 GT graphics card, two SATA hard drives, one I...

I also have a NeoHE 430 mounted in an Antec P150. The warranty sticker is broken. Everything works, but the PSU is quite noisy (probably the noisest fan in my system). It starts out very quiet, but after about a minute, it ramps up and starts making noise. (See this thread.) I don't have a very hot ...

Aha... OK, now the case fan is running, I have the side panel open and a rubber mat stuck between the motherboard and the PSU, which I guess should act as sort-of-a-duct. At least it isolates the PSU from the CPU. Looks like this: http://www.eyra.se/temp/SSA40067.JPG The PSU fan still ramps u...

Chipset cooler compatibility
I hope this is not a FAQ, but I haven't been able to find info on it.
Are there different kinds of chipset coolers, or is any chipset heatsink compatible with any motherboard?
More specifically, is a Zalman NB47J compatible with an Abit NF7-S nForce2 motherboard?

NeoHE gets loud after one minute
I recently bought an Antec P150 with a NeoHE 430 (which works great with my motherboard, an Abit NF7-S). The PSU starts out pretty much inaudible, but after about a minute, it ramps up to what I think is max speed, and makes quite a bit of noise. Now, what are the best ways to control this behaviour...

I also need a new quiet socket A CPU (and chipset) cooler. Does anybody know of a motherboard compatibility list for the ones mentioned in this thread? At first, I was looking at the Zalman 7000A, but it says on their site that it's not compatible with my motherboard (Abit NF7-S). Thermalright and T...
