@Csoszi: That seems an interesting way of circumventing some problems... Do you know if the drives power-up again if needed (direct access from Explorer, or from the network)? If so, that could actually be a great idea to add to a WHS machine... Cheers. Miguel P.S.: Btw, if that utility does what i...

Try revoSleep. http://revosleep.realspooky.de/
After each power up you should run it to sleep the specified drive(s). However I don't know if the turned off drive will remain off after waking from hibernation.

Those of you with starting problems might try to hook up a small 5 Watt/12 Volt lightbulb to the PSU. I use a bulb connected to a 3-pin fan header on my motherboard (Asus M2A-VM HDMI). Got the female connector and the wires from and old fan, connected the bulb to the appropriate wires, than to the m...

Just bought this motherboard with an X2 4400+ and 2 GB Geil Value + Windows XP Prof SP2. Allocated 64 MB RAM to integrated video. Clean Windows installation. I have problems when playing back WMV files: the output looks very surrealist, just big moving green, red, yellow and blue pathces on the scre...

think the latest AMD/ATI integrated graphics chipsets were roughly comparable to a Radeon 9700 in performance, which is very useable in even modern games. Not sure about the Nvidia ones though I think they weren't far behind. I am afraid you have overestimated the 3D power of the latest IGP solutio...

Hello doctore! The KS is fine, I have 3 WD3200KS in my Antec P150, all of them have the same low noise level (although one of them is equipped with a different motor). One of them seems to vibrate slightly more, but its not a problem in a P150  Migrated to WDs from Samsung P80 and P120 drives ...

That's some funny pricing! Generally the YS costs a couple of bucks more than the KS of the same capacity. The YS belongs to the Raid Edition drive family with higher MTBF, NCQ, TLER, etc. useful for using it in a Raid array. See the Key Features and FAQ here: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products...

I bought a Western Digital WD3200KS last week, and this device put all my Samsungs (SP2504C Nidec, SP2514N Nidec, SP1614C Nidec, SP1614N JVC) to shame in terms of idle noise: the WD is extremely quiet! When AAM is enabled, seek noise is comparable to or even lower than that of the P120 family. So I ...

Go for the WD2500KS. I bought a WD3200KS (320 GB) last week, and was surprised how quiet it was. Idle noise is significantly less than that of my Samsung SP2504C. If AAM is enabled and set to minimum (I used the Hitachi Feature Tool for setting), the seek noise is also very low. So I will say goodby...

Got my 2nd P150 on Friday, as I had the usual issues with the first one. Revision A21, serial number starts with 0512, and it works only if the TriCool fan is connected. If the fan is disconnected, the PSU won't start. Config: Asus K8N, A64 2800+, Zalman CNPS 7000 AlCu, 512MB Kingmax Hardcore, Radeo...
