speedfan support should be added soon, presumably beta first then stable.
hooray for owners who will benefit!

Re: Is there any fan control inside windows for Gigabyte Bri
pretty sure it isn't, intel lists the max temp as 95C and it was <70C at the time, from memory the cpu was still turbo boosting to 2.4ghz. i'm actually surprised by how high it is considering the load power for cpu ang gpu separately, by simple addition it should only have been ~17-18w. like i said ...

unfortunately the fan/chipset doesn't show up at all, almost certain now that speedfan simply doesn't support it yet.

Re: Is there any fan control inside windows for Gigabyte Bri
ok, this should be the last bits of info from me. temps drop by about 10C when running out of the case. not all that surprising considering the fairly restricted intakes, expect even better improvements for the other components since they're almost completely enclosed with no air in or out. opening ...

wow. mighty impressive mods.
it's a little strange seeing the nuc sized mb inside an itx case, but understandable considering the thermal envelope and, well, the case was there!
no wifi?

Re: Is there any fan control inside windows for Gigabyte Bri
easy tune was a bust but i found something else that works, argus monitor. bad news is that it's not free. perhaps when speedfan is updated support may be added. 20% fan speed = ~1850rpm which is extremely quiet and very acceptable. not sure how much temps are affected but right now during normal us...

Is there any fan control inside windows for Gigabyte Brix?
got my j1900 based brix up and running a couple of nights ago, unfortunately there is only the option of smart fan control on/off in the bios. according to hwmonitor the fans minimum speed is ~2600rpm and climbs slightly with some use, temps are low ~45-55C. it sounds like monitor buzz, kind of ok a...

Re: AMD Kabini: Athlon 5350 Desktop SoC
I bought a 5350 and was worried about the stock fan on the heatsink ruining my hope for a dead silent PC. I figured I'd buy a new heatsink when they had one available for this socket, but I've found that the BIOS lets me turn the fan off unless the CPU gets to warm. This essentially means I am almo...

Re: Bay-Trail vs AM1 (and the winner is...)
i pick amd, but only because i'm a sucker for them :) a few points: users have reported high temps on the power circuitry for the on board psu (full load, ssd only), the problem is that there's no actual rating for the thing so we don't know how hard we can push it. having said that, a few hdds are ...

Re: msata ssd in a half sized mini pcie slot?
thanks but unfortunately i was looking at amd am1 boards, which from what i can tell all have half sized and i assume pcie only slots. it's still a very new platform though so who knows what will happen in the coming weeks and months.
fingers crossed.

Re: msata ssd in a half sized mini pcie slot?
oh well, i was looking at an itx mb, chances are though it won't do msata.
it would've been amazing though, using a pico the only wire would be the 12v cpu one.

Re: msata ssd in a half sized mini pcie slot?
i believe there are slots that are compatible with both.
the real question i guess is whether the pins are still making contact if the card isn't all the way down, any thoughts?
edit: i think some lenovo laptops can 'switch' modes.

msata ssd in a half sized mini pcie slot?
from what i know cards go in at an angle, are pushed down and screwed in.
so if i were to put in a full sized card, pushed it down as far as it would go and held it there somehow (it would be at an angle, not flat like it should be), would it still work?

That DOES make it a cooler review..... The CPU cooler comes with the CPU, there is no alternative (currently) to the provided CPU cooler and I have no idea how loud it is. the asrock am1h-itx with dc in for $65 is unprecedented i think. there's one test on youtube with an msi am1i and 5350 that does ~10w idle, cheap meter though so who knows how accurate it is. edit: i think some noise numbers would've been nice too. i understand it isn't a cooler review, but since th...

i completely forgot that half of one side panel is holes, i think i was picturing the newer q11 in my head.
with the psu and it's fan gone though you will need a new source of intake/exhaust.

are you still taking temps within bios?
a lot of fm2 users have found that power consumption while in bios is abnormally high (myself included), an a10 user in another forum reported 100+ watts!

Re: has anyone here used a pico-box(chinese picopsu) psu?
makes sense, it was always going to be even more of a niche than a regular pico.
probably a bad choice for a q07 though as it would block one of the few holes in the case, then again you don't have to install it where the regular psu goes.

Re: has anyone here used a pico-box(chinese picopsu) psu?
oh wow, that's pretty nice. in all seriousness though is there a point? a seasonic 350gtm (tfx 80+gold) should be more efficient, has less volume if you include the bricks and is most likely better electronically. the only area it would lose is noise, where the fan will start spinning at higher loads.

Re: has anyone here used a pico-box(chinese picopsu) psu?
what i can tell you is that efficiency is decent, i calculate it to be about 93%(pico only). and according to the mb readouts the 12v line is much tighter, i agree its probably not much to go by but while i was using the picopsu-80 and delta 12v brick the 12v line ranged from ~11.89-11.48v. my cpu i...

it should be fine, there's minimal heat in the first place so contact with only the bottom and sides is plenty.
your drive should run cooler in the sqd compared to being bare.
