Rant: Why's there still no SMP client w/ checkpointing?
That's truly stupid. I've got several machines (C2D) here in the office being under my control. They could easily do 2500ppd together during our working time. But it's not an option to have them running 24/7, though. Does anyone know when there'll be a SMP client for Windows, which supports checkpoi...

Fred, I would highly recommend sticking to the manufacturers recommended PSU size. The box says it needs 30amps on the 12v. It will be able to support any type of display you have. If you need help calculating what PSU size you will need here's a good PSU calculator for you. http://www.extreme.oute...

I doubt there will be much difference in quality. I don't know if 8€ is a large drop in Germany (what was the case with the HX, VX and S12II?), but the M12II-430 should cost less than the HX520W at or soon after retail availability here (since US$110 is about or less than the lowest price of the ...

1) SeaSonic might be rating their PSUs more conservatively than Corsair 2) It might be made with lower rated components on the same PCB These points are eglible for the VX450/S12II430 comparison, but I think not for the M12II/HX comparison (in the review, there's something said about capacitor rati...

Well, here the 430W model is 85€. That looks like my next PSU... The VX450 would be between 55 and 60, the S12II is between 50 and 55. I've just noticed that the HX520 is sold for 77€ here. Does anyone think that the M12II has a higher quality, or will the prices drop to HX levels with greater a...

You'll already have a lot of headroom with the HX620. (qx9650:max. 100W, 2x 8800GTS: max. 200W, ram: 10W, mainboard: 50W, maybe, disks: 10W each). So my advice would be to be happy about 300-400W of headroom when idle and 200-300W when stressing. It is impossible that you come even close to the limi...

A friend of mine just bought the BMW 123d, and I have to admit, I almost never had so much fun in a car. It goes off like a rocket and yet it consumes only 5.something l/100 km (as long as you drive reasonably). You could even go 250 on the Autobahn, but then your consumption looks more like 12 or 1...

well apparently he can predict the future as well. Who was it that said weather /= climate? I claimed that several times, and also others did. But it's also true that the polar regions get hit by climate change a lot more than intermediate regions. One of my professors said it like that: "Well, cli...

There's an even smaller and cheaper version of this HSF: The Alpine 7 GT. Compared to the Pro, it's maybe 2/3 high and has the same or slightly higher fin density. It retails at 8,45€/12,45$ (btw, I like companies that do no 1/1 €/$ conversion) I think the Pro is very interesting for any of thes...

I assume you are quite sad that you sold it - and not only because of the 25k$ you missed, but also because of the pleasure you had. :D I'm just saving and convincing my significant other to allow me a BMW. My talking... I once had, for a few months, a Mini. Not the new one, it was built in 1986. It had 42hp and was the funniest car I ever rode. But you always had to have tools with you. The one advantage I can see with a larger vehicle... load capacity. You take my corolla, and put 5 people in it, plus luggage, and the performance is really going to suffer. You take a Yukon XL, put the same people in luggage in there, and it will probably be effected less by the load. Due to the f...

1) I don't think running your CPU fanless would be beneficial. I'm not saying it isn't possible, I just don't think its the best plan. For example, If you got two Slipstream fans (1 for chassis, 1 for Ninja), your CPU temperatures would be much lower, with no noticeable increase in noise. So you wi...

Hi Neil,

Maybe I should have made more clear that I would not like if threads were locked due to being too controversial. My intent at starting this thread was about discussing free speech and the limits of it.
