I hadn't noticed the 4-pin power connector; that IS bad since I was hoping to use the HR-01 or Ultra-90 with the AM2 Bolt-thru kit, which forces these heatsinks to stick out in that direction. It is offset from the center though, so it might work. This has me going back to thinking about the i945GTm...

K9AGM-FID
Does anyone have any experience with the K9AGM-FID? Newegg has it now http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813130066 but it seems to have only come to the country recently. No one has any reviews of it. I want to use it rather than the NF-M2 to avoid the nForce data corruption issues...

This seems like a good time to point out that the K9AGM-FID is now available at Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813130066. Nice low ATi power consumption, decent onboard video, no nVidia IDE/network issues. Oh, and DVI. Don't know about a serial port though...

I was researching this board some more and found this post on AOpen's forums:

This seems to indicate a possible problem with the 1.04 BIOS. Does anyone have any more insight into this? Maybe I should stick to a Yonah...

Lattitude D610 audio interference
I had to post this despite the lack of traffic in this forum. My work laptop is a Dell Lattitude D610. It is so low-quality that with the volume on "mute" but with headphones plugged in clicking on (not even opening) folders in Windows results in a squeal/buzz coming through the headphones. It must ...

Lian Li PC-7B vs Solo?
I am intending to finish ordering parts for my girlfriend's computer tonight. However, I am wondering the if the PC-7B can be made as quiet as the Solo. It has a 120mm intake fan instead of dual 92mm and, in my opinion, is much more attractive. Now I know aluminum vibrates more but if the fans were ...

As far as I can tell, the real problem with this motherboard is that you're not using it yourself. ;) That couldn't have been too hard to tell ;) Unfortunately, we don't have a ton of space and a laptop makes far more sense for me. so I have to kind of vicariously live through hers. It IS a beautif...

Thanks but being as this system is not for me I would prefer to have all the parts necessary to get it working up front. If plugging into one half of the EPS12V doesn't work I don't want to have to wait on the adapter to get the system going. There's also a Molex connector at the very bottom of the ...

EPS12V adapters?
I went ahead and ordered an Abit AW9D-MAX for my girlfriend's machine, seeing them on sale, and then realized it has the 8-pi EPS12V connector. Are the EPS12V adapters available at Newegg good enough to power this motherboard with an E6300 and a very low-end graphics card or should I order a true (l...

iL-90 MV?
Has anyone here used the iL-90 MV? A search turned up nothing, which seems surprising. My quest for something to use for my girlfriend led me to this. Merom T5500 is more than powerful enough, onboard video with DVI (through HDMI), low power consumption, microATX. My only worries are chipping the di...

I did some serious looking and unless the HR-01 duct is really pliable it won't reach from the heatsink to the PSU intake. I also don't want this machine to have a jury-rigged duct system; I want it elegant inside, which means probably no duct at this point. How would reversing the PSU fan, installi...

Crazy idea involving Nexus in Seasonic S12-380
I've had a few threads about wanting to build a very quiet system on an NF-M2, using the HR-01 and Thermalright's AM2 bolt-through kit. However, the bolt-through kit will only allow the HR-01 to be mounted horizontally, with the wide side towards the PSU fan (which I understand is an intake) and thi...

A few questions...
You say you used the Corsair Twin2X1024-6400C5 and it booted fine on the initial BIOS. I can't find that at Newegg, only the C4 and the regular 6400. Will (should) the 1.9v Twin2X1024-6400 or will I have to find a place that sells the 6400C5? The regular 6400 at Newegg seems to have the 5-5-5-15 tim...

DVI questions
As some of you may have seen I am intending to build my girlfriend a very quiet PC. I originally posted about using a 939 because I do not feel comfortable fastening a huge heatsink to two little plastic clips which I was glad we stopped using half a decade ago. Thermalright now makes an AM2 bolt-th...

Thanks for all the replies! I've been reading while I was at work but couldn't post. I don't want to just swap the fan in the Gateway. It has a six year old hard drive and 160 megs of RAM for running XP. It's not going to last long and isn't running well. The reason I posted the Athlon rather than S...

VERY QUIET PC for the girlfriend
Hopefully someone will respond to this since no one wanted to discuss my uncle's prospective machine. My girlfriend is still using an ancient Gateway iMac clone with laptop guts behind an LCD, all integrated. The CPU fan (on a 40mm heatsink) burned out one day and I had to replace it with what I had...

Need advice on a _reliable_ system...
Hi everyone! I've been out of the desktop computing world for a few years using my laptop and gaming on my XBox and haven't been keeping up with the changes. Looking at the Ninja makes me laugh because the last systems I built were with the Alpha PAL-8045 and I thought that was a huge heatsink. Anyw...
