Re: New Seasonic G360 bad whining

Hi Doveman, Is the G-360 making the ticking on a constant base or has it stopped completely? If you wish, we can take a look at it for you. Hi It seems to have stopped at the moment thanks. I'll let you know if it starts again though. I'm having a lot of other problems with this PC but they're prob...

Re: New Seasonic G360 bad whining

Whilst the replacement G-360 I bought doesn't seem to have a whine problem, in the last few days the fan has developed an annoying ticking noise. It seems to have stopped again now but it's a bit worrying as it could come back once I've given the system to my brother and he wouldn't be able to send ...

Re: Is my TRUE Rev.c faulty?

You really have 16°C or lower in your room? Because if you have 19-21°C room temp, your X2 would be nice to have for cooling beer. And i also remember some boards reporting temps with an offset of about +18, or was it a whole sensor family? My digital room thermometer says 22c but I don't trust tha...

Re: Is my TRUE Rev.c faulty?

I took a screenshot of HwInfo running on both systems for comparison. http://img825.imageshack.us/img825/7613/phenomiix4955vsathlonii.png As you can see, the Athlon II X4 630 shows a CPU 0 temp of 16-22c and a CPU temp around 10c higher at 27c. The Phenom II X4 955 shows a CPU 0 temp of 32-35.5c and...

Is my TRUE Rev.c faulty?

I've got a Phenom II X4 955 OC'd to 3.6Ghz with a TRUE Rev.c and Arctic PWM 120mm fan running at about 1300RPM. This build is just sitting on the bench, so no intake or exhaust fans but also no case causing heat build-up. I've also got a Athlon II X4 630 @ stock 2.8Ghz with a Xigmatek HDT-D1284 top-...

Yeah, I used the Crossbar ACK-U01 as the Crossbow ACK ATI-775 is totally unavailable now (almost found one in Poland but it turned out they just hadn't updated their listings!)

Nice writeup of your installation, thanks. It took me rather longer than 10mins to install but I was rather nervous and triple-checking everything ;) I actually got a bit annoyed with the adhesive backplate as I had to remove it when it turned out to be machined wrong and I was a bit uncomfortable w...

Re: How do I remove/re-attach fan to Xigmatek HDT-D1284?

Thanks, that probably makes more sense than just trying to pull it straight off, which is what I thought might be the right way (not that I tried). I guess attaching a new fan would mean sliding two of the lugs onto the heatsink from the side and then stretching it over to slide the other two on the...

Re: New Seasonic G360 bad whining

As for the G-360, do we have any idea of the ratio of whining units to non-whining units? Basically, what are the odds? It depends upon other components, that seems to be a big problem. This explains why some people have had multiple units that are blamed for whining and others have not had any whi...

How do I remove/re-attach fan to Xigmatek HDT-D1284?

The fan is attached to the HDT-D1284 with a rubber lug in each corner but I don't know how I'm meant to replace it if/when it becomes necessary. I think I read somewhere that you just pull the fan off but I get a feeling this could just cause the rubber lugs to tear in half. Perhaps I need to squeez...

Re: Xigmatek ack-u01 Compatability

Well fairplay to Xigmatek, after they accepted that I couldn't possibly bend the thing to get it to go together, they sent me a replacement from Taiwan free of charge. It was the backplate that had the holes in the wrong place, as the replacement clips didn't fit onto the original backplate either b...

Re: Xigmatek ack-u01 Compatability

As long as the heatsink as a hole near each end for the tabs on the crossbar to fit into, I can't see why it wouldn't work. The problem with mine is not that it doesn't line up with the heatsink but that the mounting kit clips don't fit over the mounting kit backplate screws. After trying to persuad...

Re: New Seasonic G360 bad whining

I'd like to thank Walter and Ray from Seasonic for their great service and helping me get a replacement G-360 at a very good price for my troubles. Re: Swap pushpins for bolts for AM3 mount to hold HDT-D1284?

It seems Xigmatek have a new mounting bracket, the ACK-U01. I've been e-mailing them the last few days trying to find out if this is compatible with the HDT-D1284 because if it is, it would solve all my problems. I guess it's just a matter of whether the crossbar fits into the slots in the HDT-1284 ...

Swap pushpins for bolts for AM3 mount to hold HDT-D1284?

I bought this Xigmatek HDT-D1284 with the intention of getting the optional mounting kit but unfortunately that's been discontinued (I did find one store in Poland that had it in stock but when my friend ordered it for me, it turned out the website was just out of date), so I'll just have to use the...

Re: New Seasonic G360 bad whining

The coil whine issue is something we have been working hard to resolve. Often times it is difficult to pinpoint because the same model, the same batch in production, can end up with coil whine when matched with one MB and absolutely silent when paired with another MB. As well, we have had instances...

Hi Mike You may well be right but I didn't want to take the chance that the supplier had a bad batch so got a refund. It may well be if I got another elsewhere it would be fine. I see there's a Neo Eco 450W which I can get a bit cheaper than the 520W and also seems to have more suppliers. Antec Neo Eco is sourced from Seasonic, aka M12 II Bronze. It should be decently quiet, not sure about whining. I found a good review of it here http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=317192 and it looks good electrically at least. I guess it's worth taking a chance on and hopefully the M12 II B...

Well this article makes it clear that the Corsair Builder series isn't what I'm looking for: http://www.overclock.net/t/654983/on-corsair-psus

What about the Antec 520W Neo Eco Modular? It's 80+ Bronze and has a double ball bearing fan. Only 3yr warranty though, like the Corsair Builder.

Re: New Seasonic G360 bad whining

As S12-430 was long discontinued at least 5 years ago, it's a moot point in today's market. That said, I think electronic whining may have something to do with component selection/combination of computer, and is not restricted to PSU or Seasonic. As I said before, this particular S12-430 has been r...

If it is such a low-power PC you could try a pico-PSU. Maybe you can score one for $40 off eBay. There might actually be a whole range of PSU one could get used for cheap. Considering the troubles I've had with new PSUs, I hardly want to try a second-hand one with no warranty. At least I can send t...

I'm looking for recommendations as well. I had a Seasonic G360 but that whines even when not connected to anything and I've been told the Seasonic S12-430W does as well, so I'm looking to avoid Seasonic. I had an OCZ StealthXStream 400W that first developed an intermittent noisy fan and then develop...
